Vehicle description

1938 Diamond T/ Howe custom open Cab Fire Truck Street/Rat rod
Relisted due to non-paying bidder. Please be sure your wife will let you have the truck before bidding and ask questions if you have any concerns.
If you love Diamo nd T"s,Fire Trucks, and Rat rods then this is perfect truck for you. Plenty of smiles, thumbs up, and waves while you are cruising around. Originally a rare 1938 Diamond T model 406D open cab with the Fire Truck portion built by Howe. The chassis and drive chain are now from a mid 1980 Chevy 1/2 ton truck chassis with it"s stock 350 engine with auto transmission. Nothing was changed or cut on the original Chevy truck and it has the it"s stock power steering and power brakes. Super easy and inexpensive to maintain, replace parts,or customize further to your own personal taste. All of the original Howe gauges, hose reel,Suction hoses,Valve caps, axe, and other gear have been transferred to create a "mock" pumper. The heavy pumps and the water tank were eliminated and the hose bed was shortened. This cuts the overall length down to just 18" and width to 7" and reduces the weight to about half the original. I have owned several Fire Trucks and they were all too long for my garage and to heavy to push when they broke down and way to difficult and expensive to find replacement parts for. This truck was built to be smaller, lighter, and much more reliable. Jump aboard hit the start button and your off cruising. The running boards are now about 14" off the ground so it is very easy to step on and off of them during parades. Even the kids have no problem jumping aboard. All of the lights work including the flashing red emergency light and the very cool stop lights. There are three utility lights and one spotlight up front. A vintage brass bell for the kids to ring and the siren works as well. The Windshield was just replaced with tinted glass, Recent dual exhaust installed. The donor Chevy truck was a bone dry southern Utah truck so no rust issues. I"ve been offered $3000 for the super rare grill but no way am I parting this truck out. It does have all the original hard to come by side chrome and the original brass plates. This is truly a unique one of a kind truck that you will not see again. You can ratchet it up and go full blown street rod. Dress out the engine, add stacks on the side, add a retractable canvas top, whatever. Or just enjoy cruising it as is as I have. Truck is registered as a 1938 Diamond T with vintage vehicle plates. Clear Utah title in my name with current registration. Took it out this past memorial as shown in the pictures. Looking for a good home for this classic truck. If you have questions just email through ebay you phone number and I will call you promptly.
