Vehicle description
You are bidding on a 1975 Apollo Motor home; this was built on a Dodge Chassis and has the tried and true 440 Cubic inch motor and a 727 3 speed automatic transmission. The motor home was bought in the early 2000’s and has not been used since in quite some time. The Interior still looks pretty good and was remodeled by the previous owner in the late 80’s. Over the past two years I have begun the process of getting the old gal drivable again so that someone might be able to use her again in some capacity whether it is repurposing her as a food truck, Mobile Office, or business of some sort or just restoring her to her former glory as a family R/V. I think for the most part I have done the heavy lifting and have performed the following work: New braking system including the following:
New Master cylinder
New front calipers including wheel bearing as seals
New rear wheel cylinders 4 of them
Two new Hydrovac Boosters
Replaced front and rear soft brake hoses
Front Rotors were in excellent condition and were not replaced
Rear drums were also in excellent condition and did not need replaced
Brakes were bled and work perfectly
Fuel system
New 440 fuel pump
New fuel filter
Both tanks were removed and acid cleaned and sealed
Sent both sending units out to have them rebuilt
I also painted the exterior of the tanks to preserve them.
Removed and cleaned out the tank selection valve and cleared the fuel lines of debris.
Installed new fuel gauge and added an auxiliary fuel tank gauge which has not been hooked up electrically yet.
Fuel system functions perfectly now with the exception of the sending unit.
Suspension system
Installed new gas charged shocks on all four corners.
Installed a set of newer used Michelin tires that can be regrooved.
Fluids
Drained and serviced the rear axle
Drained and serviced the 727 Transmission, Added a deeper and oil pan with cooling channels for added reliability and service life. Replace the transmission Filter.
Changed the oil in the 440 engine performed an engine flush, drained and refilled the engine with 10w 40w oil
Drained and refilled the power steering pump with new Power steering fluid.
Cleaned and flushed the radiator which was in perfect condition inside and performed a 16 lb pressure test with no issues. Added new antifreeze.
Complete chassis lubrication with a top quality Green grease
Miscellaneous items
Replace the upper and lower radiator hoses
Replaced heater hoses.
Bought a used replacement matching carburetor, had it rebuilt and it fit nicely, original will come with the unit and just needs a new kit installed.
When rebuilding the brakes the rear shoes were in excellent condition as well as the front pads, so I will include a new set of rear brake shoes and pads for future replacement if needed.
Replaced the spark wires with a higher performance set.
I did not replace the belts but a set of new ones are included
Bought one new replacement deep cycle battery which I will include At this stage, I have driven the unit as she runs well, stops and shifts gears as she should, I had her up to around 40 mph with no issues.
I have not focused on the house itself as a whole but did replace the upper vents and repaired all of the screens. Most of the interior lights work but I had planned on replacing them with LED lighting. I know the water pump works and the tank indicators seem to be working. I performed a high pressure hose flush of the waste tanks but did not do anything with the water tank. I believe I have covered most of the repairs and service that was performed on the unit. Please contact me with any further questions you may have or if you want to take a look at the old gal and hear her run. Thanks for your interest.
