Additional miles will be charged at $2 a mile (only billed one way). We are also offering up to 3 months of free storage in the event that you want to purchase this unit and store it for a while. If you need to store it for more than 3 months, we charge $50 a month. - - - - Up for auction at no reserve is a vintage dual axle 1974 Airstream Sovereign International Land Yacht in restorable condition .
The Sovereign International Land Yacht model is known for its extremely spacious interior. It is distinguished from smaller models b y its very large and spacious rear bathroom with a full bath/shower combo, bedroom area, large kitchen, full fridge and spacious area in the front (which originally featured a large futon couch that was removed).
With a total length of 31 feet, this Airstream would be great for boon docking and camping. Due to its relatively light weight of approximately 5,500 pounds, practically any newer truck with a towing package can pull it comfortably.
The exterior aluminum on this Airstream has its original patina and overall, it looks amazing outside. There are only a few very minor scrapes and dings and rock chip around the lower aluminum frame paneling. We would rate the exterior on this camper at a 9 out of 10 because of the lack of dents. The awning appears to be ripped in some places and will need replaced. One of the front jacks came unriveted and needs to be reconnected to the frame, and for now is tied in place.
A small section of the aluminum underbelly at the front of the trailer was removed (about 2 feet long by 8 feet wide). Other than that, the aluminum underbelly is flawless. The tires will need to be replaced and the hubcaps do not come with the trailer but can be found easily on for around $200. All of the windows are original and the frame railings and fasteners are in great shape. We opened all of the windows and all opened easily as they should. The entry door works as it should but does not come with keys.
This Airstream features three moon windows in the living room area which are highly coveted in the longer Airstream models. This provides extra light in the cabin, which paired with the amount of windows makes it feel light and airy inside. It also features an aftermarket fly fishing rod holder, as this Airstream was used as a fishing cabin on the Two Hearted river in Michigan. As such, it comes with a case of Two Hearted for the lucky new owner.
The interior is in need of cleaning and repair. In the kitchen there is an original sink, stove, oven and refrigerator. The refrigerator has been tested and is working. The stove and oven have not been tesed but are very clean and should work. The propane tanks were removed and will need to be replaced in order to test the propane systems which are untested. All of the original cabinets throughout seem to be intact and in decent shape, minus one in the bedroom area that is missing the tambour door, but we can sell you a replacement door for $50. The floor seems solid in the middle and rear of the camper but will need replaced in the front due to wear and water damage around the entry door (see pics). The frame appears to be solid and was stripped and recoated in the exposed areas by the previous owner. It will be needing a new jack which we can include with the sale for an additional $75.
We tested the onboard electric and associated appliances and it worked. The water pump kicked on when we tested it. The refrigerator also was running. The AC unit does not appear to work, and is missing the control panel. The 30 amp power cord is present and works but has a cracked head. Many of the onboard lights are missing or burnt out. However, the outlets work, the light in the kitchen works, the bathroom light works, and a few others did as well.
The plumbing and related systems appear to be intact but are untested.
Being a 47 year old trailer, it is not perfect but it is in really great overall condition and is the ideal candidate for total restoration as an awesome, very spacious camper.
