Vehicle description

How can a 1966 SkyHawk be almost new? When it has less than 900 hours Total Time (TT). And, yes, 815 hours can be a “negative” if an aircraft has been sitting on the back side of some airport in the weather, and “out of annual” for years. But if the plane has been consistently (though minimally) flown through the years with regular annuals performed …. and this is all documented in the logs, then perhaps it is fair to say that it"s “nearly new” in this case. Incredibility , the purchaser of this Skyhawk may become the owner of the lowest time, vintage C172 in the world! Based in middle/north Georgia, away from the coast and salt air it has both been hangared and parked outside. Age factors in as it relates to the upholstery but that has been addressed. New leather seats (with headrests) have been ordered from Airtex and will be delivered in about 8 weeks. If the plane sells before they arrive, I will redirect them to the new owner. They are paid for. The other thing that “time” had done is to render some of the flight systems obsolete. Lo Ran navigation is no longer used. That equipment was removed by the prior owner. I replaced that with a brand new I-Fly 720GPS with moving map. So what this plane now has, is the old school, traditional 6-pack of gauges, complemented by a modern 7 inch touch screen. The radio is an Icom A200. All gauges are operable. The 2019 annual was performed in July by our no-nonsense A/P at the Pickens County Airport in Jasper, GA. It passed in a routine manner. The Continental 300D engine’s compression has remained very much the same over the years. Again, it has but 815 hours on it. This aircraft has also gotten the approved modification allowing automobile gas to be used. It has a brand new Concord battery. The left side window had a bit of " crazing " and is being replaced. Imron paint on this plane probably averages about a 7 our of 10. The fuselage paint is good and could be buffed to a nice shine. The bottoms of the wings are excellent. The top of the wings are not as good. The elevator had some chipping on it that has been touched up. The wheel pants look very nice. There is one for the front that is not installed. Overall, this plane, though far from perfect, still has a good appearance as the photos indicate. Should I have kept this plane, I would have likely vinyl wrapped in a couple of years. It"s cheaper than paint and looks awesome. I bought this airplane to cut my cost on taking flying lessons. But at 74 years of age, my large family all said, “please don’t.” A medical issue also arose that added difficulty to the process. That’s why it’s up for sale. I’m asking 64K for my “nearly new” SkyHawk. Come inspect it. Fly it over these beautiful North Georgia mountains. Thanks for reading my ad.
