Vintage Shasta Astrodome camper offered for sale. Believed to be a 1963, this rare model is ready for a new home. Enjoyable as is, or take it to the next level. The camper measures 13-feet, plus 3 feet for tongue and top overhang. It tows like a dream with just a regular 1/2-ton pickup. I have rarely used this awesome camper for the last five years, maybe three or four times per year in the summer, otherwise she"s been stored in a dry carport out of the weather. When I got this camper, I did a few minor changes to make it into what I was looking for. A place to hang out with fri ends, take on the road, to the beach, or as a spare bedroom for guests. At glamping parties, it was always the center of attention.
A fresh red & white paint job is on the outside. The roof was repaired and seams sealed. New roof vent,new interior wood panels to replace most water stained areas, fresh vinyl flooring laid on top of existing floor, new vinyl tiles on counter top, new bandana curtains, new comforters, bathroom gutted, scrubbed, painted a clean white, and includes a brand new never used porta-potty. All windows & hardware were cleaned and make functional, they open and close with ease. Some water staining under front windows, but not bad enough to replace and all leaks were repaired. Removable Screens in place.
This camper has the original coppertone stove but we never used it, and have never tested it. The sink is there but we never hooked it up. The front water tank and the gaucho couch was removed and replaced with two comfy wing chairs for relaxing. The heater unit is in place (not tested )and the vent is in the floor, we never used the heater, as the floor vent is now covered with vinyl flooring (not glued down, so easily removable if you wish to make the heater functional again.
We only used this during the summer so heat was never an issue, and when camping, we grilled outdoors of course, so the oven/stove was not used or tried. The original refrigerator is missing, and I always put a vintage Coca-Cola cooler in its place and kept our snacks and drinks cold in it. (Coke cooler not included.) There is a super-comfy full/queen size air matress in the upper "astrodome" sleeping area, and lower sleeping area is a single-wide with foam cushion. This single could easily be converted to a pull-out double. Good size closet for hanging clothing and storage of shoes/boots and larger items like brooms and patio umbrellas. More cabinets located above and below single bed as well as several cabinets in kitchen area, along with drawers and cubbies for tons of storage. The bathroom is a separate teeny room for privacy.
