Vehicle description
Hello, I am listing a vintage travel trailer for my mother. The following is her description of the trailer and what she has done to it:
1960 Comet Mobile Home manufactured in Coffeeville Kansas in possibly the "last" original as possible condition. Interior is original: Linoleum floor, mattress, Naugahyde bench seats, pink/white/copper counter and tabletop, propane stove, ice box (not electric refrigerator), sink, hand water pump, plumbing, faucet, exterior and water outlets.
NOTE: I put a lot of time and money into this probably one-of-a-kind travel trailer. Buy it before I change my mind!
Work Done: Removed old paint on exterior (2 gallons of white and New Ford blue paint and 3 qts of gray primer included) New carpet on floor in August 2017, original linoleum floor in great shape. Carpet keeps floor warm in winter. Painted some interior of cabinets gray oil-based paint because original pink with black and white specks was losing flakes of what appeared to be Mica and probably lead-based (now covered!) Had roof around ceiling professionally sanded and sealed in 2015, no leaks since then. Water damage was done prior to my ownership. Roof vent seals, but lever was broken in high wind and vent is taped shut. Needs lever. Rewired tail lights with new trailer light, will include original tail lights and license plate light. $70 of linen purchased and made curtains. (old ones shredded in washer) Rear damage below tail lights caused by ditch full of rocks while 4 wheeling. Have broken board that came off and nails. Have new black rubberized rock guard to put on bottom front of trailer. 1 year old trailer jack on hitch (old one broke on inside and irreplaceable due to uniqueness of model). Includes red leveler and 2 yellow chocks for tires. Includes 4 stabilizer jacks. 2 bubble levels attached inside and mostly hidden by curtains. Good spare tire. 2 new glass panels in front. New screens on original aluminum frames. 2 new door locks/handles and new outside lock for under bed storage. Trailer hitch lock with 2 keys. Exterior electricity input upgraded to 3 prong, have 2 prong part. Sanded all metal under body and repainted with rust inhibitor. Sprayed bed liner underneath floor on exterior. Took off 2 pieces of aluminum above front windows to clean off and reseal. Needs to be put back on. Took off on piece of aluminum by wheel well, needs to fix old wood and replace. Put in a rubberized mat on the under-the-bed storage area to keep stuff from sliding. Rubberized mats custom cut for cabinets and closet. Greased/packed wheel bearings There is no toilet or shower in this trailer. It has 6 gallon (2 year old) water jug to use with hand pump. Not included is a "thunder jug" that goes inside a plastic milk crate inside the closet. The mattress is original and stain-free. The Army-style "cot" above the bed is in good condition and is removable. The table and 2 seats adapt to make a third bed. There is storage under both seats as well. The closet has rack, hooks and over-the-door storage. Interior window levers work as they should. The trailer pulls really well with no shimmies or shakes.
Again, I am listing this for my mother who lives a couple hours away. You can message me for any questions that you might have and I will relay them to her and get back to you if I can"t answer them. The trailer is located on my property here in Grand Junction, CO. I have a clear title in her name and bill of sale ready to go. Cash only sale upon pickup please. Thanks for looking.
