It’s a great little ride and hard to find in this condition here on the east coast. Good luck! Vehicle Details This is a 1982 Subaru Brat DL. I bought this Brat with the intention of using it for the Lemons series but once I got it home I realized it was way too nice to do anything other than keep it original. This particular Brat was sold new in Colorado and spent most of its life high and dry out there, which helped keep the rust down to a minimum. The car had been parked for a few years and when I bought it the carburetor was off. We then took it apart and cleaned the carb and installed it back on. The car sprang to life and ran pretty well. Next the CV axles were replaced and the brakes gone through to get this mini truck to stop. Once this was done we got it on the road. This brat came with the factory topper which I have and is included in the sale. I also have the rare FACTORY carpet that goes out back. Next we flushed the gas tank which seemed to be in pretty good shape. Next we replaced both fuel filters. After this the brat ran much better. It still could use a tune up and carb adjustment. But it ran and shifted well. The brakes should be gone through again for safety precaution. Battery is fresh. Tires have little miles on them. The paint is original and was heavily oxidized when I got it. We buffed it out to remove the top layer and the paint looked much better. There is a dent in the pass fender which we tried to pull out. A good body guy could fix that fender as I don’t think it needs to be replaced. There are typical dings and dents in the car as shown but overall it looks pretty good for a 39 year old ride. There is corrosion on bottom of pass door, as well as in both door sills and two spots underneath near front wheels as shown. The rest of the car appears solid as far as I can tell. The front lip of the hood was repaired and painted but you can see the blend line. The back bed was sanded down and resprayed in color matching base/clear. The base of the bed was sprayed with a spray can to help with touch ups in case of scratching it up. The roll bar is a full size unit cut down to fit. It was sleeved for support. However consider it just for show as we can’t tell structural integrity in case of a roll over. It was installed using seat belt bolts up front and two bolts in the wells. You can drill out the others if you decide to keep the bar. It was sprayed in appliance epoxy white that you get at Home Depot. It’s a good solid paint and easy to touch up. Lights on top are not hooked up The interior is in decent shape. Has dash pad as the dash was cracked. Installed a better radio bezel as the one it came with was hacked. Radio is not hooked up. All lights and wipers appear to work properly. Ac turns on but doesn’t blow that cold. Heat works. Seats are old and springs are on their way out. I added a thick block of foam rubber under driver seat to give the seat a little more cushion. As stated before engine runs well and is responsive. Car shifts well through all gears. Due to the fact there was a factory topper, the rear tailgate trim was absent from car. With some searching there are some examples out there to purchase. Tailgate emblem says GL but this is a DL. Rear seats were sourced along with frame and headrests. I made a subframe to bolt seats in. You can easily remove the four bolts to take the seats out. I would test structural integrity of seats before anyone back there. I don’t think it’s legal in any state. Overall it’s a great ride and hard to find in this shape.
