Vehicle description
Purchased from 81 yr old gentleman. Had been in his garage for aprox 10 years. He and his wife would take it to car shows around Miami "back in the day". Car is rust free. looks to have had 1 repaint in the factory color. Odometer shows 99K miles and based on condition I feel its correct. Has the 1.6L FI gas engine and a 5 speed manual trans. Runs through the gears and stops just fine.
Engine was stuck from setting. Pulled the plugs and soaked the cylinders in Marvel mystery oil for several days before it broke loose with a bar on the crank bolt. Spun it over to get as much of the oil out of the cylinders as possible however probably a 1/2 qt made its way into the exhaust and is now burning off as the engine warms up and even drips some out the tail pipe . Looks bad but its not. LOL.
New battery and Autolite plugs installed, flushed fuel system. Cranks right up. Runs a bit rough when cold but will smooth out as it warms up. Could probably use some injector cleaner run through it. Was not charging at first. Pulled the alt and had it tested. Showed charging @ 14.4V on the test stand but when installed only reading a best of 12.8V at 2000rpm. Replaced alt / water pump belt while it was apart. Found some "creative wiring under the hood. Have no idea what they were trying to work around when it was done. A/C system is flat. Owner said it had worked when he parked it.
The last owners wife made her own seat covers. The red dash matt says Norm on it and is covering a dash cap which is covering the factory cracked dash pad. Carpet is ok and I dropped in a set of vintage NIB Kraco( kmart corp) floor mats I had from another car. Top is like new. goes up and down as its supposed to. Black boot cover is also in good shape.
Over all his is a nice little car and a good example of the model. Described to the best of my knowledge. Its located in north central Florida. I can deliver on a open trailer for 1.00 a loaded mile or 1.50 in an enclosed. If your brave enough drive it home. Any questions feel free to ask 3866887707
