Vehicle description
For sale is a partially restored 1982 Rabbit Convertible (later known as a Cabriolet). I inherited this car and know the history of the car decently well, so I can answer most questions. I have been storing it in my garage for the last six years. I simply do not have the time to restore it. It needs a new home.
Original California car, NO rust, impeccable condition for a 36 year old vehicle.
Off-white exterior, black vinyl convertible top (brand new), black with red/orange fabric seats. Seats are a bit faded, but in good condition; carpet is in great shape. Pictures show the partial tear-down and initial cleaning.
Original 1.7L engine was blown, so previous owner began an engine and dash swap with a 1998 Jetta (2.0L). Engine bay was cleaned and painted (no rust to begin with, just gave it a new coat for good measure).
New engine is currently mounted, but dashboard and wiring was never swapped. Currently set up as a 2.0L with a 5spd manual transmission.
Suspension has been partially replaced for new engine weight. Rest of suspension and other parts (radiators, windows, etc) come with the car, too.
Will need a lot of work to get running again, but will be well worth it for a lover of these vehicles. I said title is "clear" because there were no accidents; I will bet that it"ll end up requiring a salvage title (considering that the current engine doesn"t match the original specs).
Located in Central NY state (Ithaca, NY). Pick up only.
