Vehicle description

1982 VW Rabbit Convertible, original garage find, 42,000 original miles, never driven in winter, 4 cyl. gas, 5 speed, A.C. These cars are getting very hard to find in this condition. Was stored in dry garage for 8 years. New top was installed before being stored. Also has heated back window. All new front brake rotors, calipers, hoses, and pads. All new rear brake shoes, hardware, wheel cylinders, shoes, wheel cylinders. Muffler and tailpipe replaced. New radial tires installed about 200 miles ago. The car is in very good to excellent condition with a few minor chips that were hand touched up. Interior is very clean, no rips or tears. Has electric and real gauges, oil pressure, water temp and charging. Gas gauge acts up sometimes, shows quarter to half even when full, might be ground or float sticks in tank. Previous owner says it averaged around 42 MPG. Runs and shifts like it should. This car is being sold AS IS. No warranties or guarantees are implied. No trades, Cash or Certified cashiers check, USPS money orders accepted also. $500.00 deposit required, remainder paid within 5 days. On Sep-05-18 at 15:03:36 PDT, seller added the following information: People keep asking me how the car runs, more pics, any rust, etc. This car is just like a barn find except it was kept in a dry garage for 8 years w/ a cover on it, no piles of dust or vermin. I did not go over this car with a fine comb. I got it running, installed all the brakes and new tires and whatever else is in my description. I only start it about once a week and go up the road about a mile and come back just to keep it lubricated and warm up. I"m sure it will probably need shocks and struts. It seems to run just fine, it will get up and go, which really surprised me for the engine being as small as it is. Being that the car was in storage all that time , I"m sure there are going to be different things that are going to act up or not work just right. If everyone wants a pristine example of this car, then I can go over it like a total restoration and jack the price up where no one will want to pay that price. Someone else can tinker with it if they want the PERFECT PRISTINE car. Most of the hard work is done. These are HARD to FIND IN THIS CONDITION! !
