Vehicle description
1976 MG Midget older restoration. This is a restoration car and would need some work before highway driving. The engine is strong and uses no oil - no leaks. New plugs, plug wires, points, condenser. Chrome valve cover. The transmission works in all four gears but there is a noise in first gear when decelerating. Also, the shift syncro"s are not engaging. It goes down the road straight and true. The brakes will need work too. They work but require a double press of the pedal. The heating unit is not installed and is bypassed. This is not uncommon in the Midget since the engine compartment looks so much nicer without the big bulky black unit in the way. Also many enthusiasts remove the heater box assembly since the Midget is not a good winter road vehicle and only drive it in summer. A replacement unit is about 80 dollars. Tires have good tread but the sidewall on one is checked. There are five wire wheels in good shape. The seats are good with no tears or wear through. The seat belts do not retract and the fabric of the belts require them to be replaced. The car has a custom grille and the original front rubber bumper also comes with the car. The body is solid with no apparent major rust. Body work done years ago on the front fenders is checked and will require rework. The floors are solid with no major rust although there are a few pin holes. The frame is solid. The car will need paint to look nice. It has a Webber carb and custom exhaust manifold worth over $1100.00. The MG also has a roll bar. It will come with a new Blue Tooth radio, speakers and antenna, none of which are installed at this time. The wipers do not operate and it may be a simple wiring issue or it could be replacements will be needed I haven"t tested it. I was going to restore this excellent candidate, however, I have a book to publish and have neither the time or resource to continue with this project and hope to find this MG a good home. I have no documentation, however, it seems apparent that the engine has had significant upgrading and perhaps even a major overhaul. It is strong and does not smoke or leak. The odometer shows 22K miles, judging by the age and condition of the car it is prudent to assume that it is 122K miles. Sorry but bidders with less than five transactions will be rejected.
