Vehicle description
We have for sale a nice 1971 MG MIDGET MK III. The styling of the car is amazing - classic 1960s to 1970s roadster styling that was seen on many automobiles of that period from Maseratis to Ferraris and is at a price-point where the vehicle can actually be driven. Clear Ohio title - ready to go.
The MG has a 1275 CC 4 Cylinder twin carb engine with a 4 speed manual transmission. It was owned by an elderly gentleman for over a decade and was his weekend baby. He stored the car every winter and performed regular maintenance as needed. Newer parts added by him include tires and slave cylinder.
The MG was purchased in November of 2017 with 74,754 original miles. The MG was purchased in November of 2017 with 74,754 original miles. My intent was to return the car to its original deep red color and replace the current carpeting with black. With work, home renovations, and a million other projects - I haven"t had the time for the MG. It"s time (according to the wife) to let someone else enjoy it.
Below is a video of a cold start after sitting for 6 months. Car has always started without any issue. https:/ www.youtube.com/watch?v=tGup7rAY4C0&feature=youtu.be
To the best of my knowledge, everything on the MG works, except for the front fog lamps - they have yet to be hooked up. That said the car is approaching the 50 year mark, and so there are the regular items that need attention as one might expect. There are some areas of wear to the leather seat piping (no tears in the seats). One of the windshield visor holds is loose. There are the minor MG body stress cracks on the tops of the doors above the handles - I saw these on every example I looked at before buying this one, I believe it"s a very common thing. There is also some minor rust in the doorwells (see images) - no visible holes. The paint looks good but is not perfect, it"s a brushed matte finish and I haven"t tested how well it will hold up (I was planning on having Maaco paint it red anyways). Some very minor bubbles here and there. The soft-top is in fairly good condition, latches easily, the windows are good, there are two old repairs to the vinyl in the soft-top.
I also purchased original front and rear chrome fenders for the vehicle, if desired, these can be included for $100 extra.
Winning bidder must pay a $500 deposit within 24 hours of the end of the auction and remaining balance must be received via certified funds within 3 days of the end of the auction. We have experience shipping large items and can assist in arranging delivery for the winning buyer. This is a buy-it-now or best offer, please feel free to make an offer.
