Vehicle description
This 1973 MG Midget will hold a special appeal for those who appreciate British sports cars. For generations, the MG has been the standard-bearer for affordable British sports cars and remains a great choice today. it is hard to find many that are as nice as this low-mileage MG.
The fresh burgundy paint on this Mark III Midget perfectly captures the era. This is a solid MG that has been stored inside most of the time and does not have rust issues. The 1973 Midget are very desirable because of their chrome bumpers and delicate grille instead of the heavy rubber pieces that would show up the next year. The rounded fender openings were new for 1973, and to many enthusiasts it is a cleaner, more desirable look. The chrome is original and looks really nice, and the car is fitted with the optional wire knock-off wheels.
You will find the Midget"s cockpit is a reasonably comfortable place. The bucket seats and upholstery are original and if you look in the glove box you will find the original manual! The new black convertible top provides decent protection, and you also get a tonneau cover. In the trunk is a full-sized spare with matching wire wheel and the original jack.
The 1275 cc engine is marine green with correct twin SU side draft carburetors. 1973 was the first year for alternators, so the electrical system is more robust than on earlier cars. Overall, the engine bay is neat, tidy, and the engine runs very well. Underneath, it"s very clean. Proper 13-inch painted wire wheels are fitted with new radials.
