Vehicle description

1969 Buick Electra 225
Make Sure To Watch The Videos At The End Of This Listing!
One family owned 4-door hard top, 430 V8 automatic, black with black interior, white top, 21,724 actual miles. This is not a “talk about” barn find, this is a true one owner, 38 years in the barn video taped barn find! Never seen outside since parked in 1980. Has all the documents, books and papers, build sheet, warranty card and protecto plate. Watch all of the videos at the end of this description and watch how life was given back to her, this 21,000 actual mile 1969 Buick Electra 225 430 automatic 4 barrel!
The grandparents passed that bought it new and the grandson with the same name was left all of the property and this car. He said in 1970 he graduated in this car. He drove it when it was brand-new. Still has his 1970 graduation tassel on the mirror. He parked it in the ‘80’s and never touched it again. Said he poured transmission fluid down the carburetor and shut the barn door. He is now around 70 years old and decided to sell his place with this Buick in the barn. Said he couldn’t get to the car with all the 35 year old trees growing all around the barn so he sold the property to my best friend in Independence, MO. Knowing that I love preserving these old cars instead of scrapping them he called me to see if I would be interested in this car in the barn because he was cleaning up the place. I’m sure glad I said “Yes”! So I bought it not even knowing what it would look like because you couldn’t get in the barn with everything silted in around the doors and trees 34 inches around growing up all around to keep a trailer from getting to it. So I drove with my wife and kids on July 4th to visit and check out this incredible Buick in the barn. Got there and was trying to see how to get in the barn and see the car for the first time. My buddy brought in dozers, loaders and a skid steer and built a road for 200 yards down to the barn and ripped the doors open on the barn. There she was, one dirty unrecognizable 4 door Buick! I said “Oh no, what have I got myself into?” This car was so dirty from setting for so many years. Thinking will she ever run again? I took my mind off the looks and began trying to think of what she could possibly look like when cleaned up. Mind you, she sports 21,000 actual miles! Watch the videos and look at the pictures and enjoy how amazing this well ‘life-preserved’ 1969 Buick is. Don’t think there is no-way this can happen, it can and did! The body has absolutely no rust through holes outside and is a straight body. By no means is the original lacquer paint perfect. Then, the amazing thing is finding that the doors open and seeing a 40 year preserved interior in no average condition but better than above average condition. It looks like it was drove off of the showroom floor. No flaws inside from the dash to the floor. No mice turds or chewed up wiring. When we cleaned it up, not only does everything look like new, but works like new. You could never believe it! No rotten or torn carpet. No color fade. No bad rubber seals. All wires under and inside dash are like new. Wow! Until you see it you still won’t believe it! Motor turned over and with points, plugs, condenser, oil change and service it started and ran like it was just drove in last week. Runs and shifts like 21,000 miles or even better. I am so amazed with how this car didn’t need anything except for exhaust, brake lines and flushed fuel tank. Nothing inside or outside has been replaced, even in the trunk.
I hope you can feel as good as I do about this story. Don’t ever think you can’t save something that looks like it’s done. There’s beauty under all of that dirt. I am looking to put new tires on it. The original polyesters are cool but you just can’t drive it safely.
Hope you enjoy all of the videos and please feel free to call me anytime about anything on this car. I promise you will be amazed with the original lacquer paint.
Keep scrolling to the end of this and you will find a series of videos that will take you through the process of getting to the car and removing it from the barn.
Thank you for taking the time to read this and feel free to call me anytime Don.
PS: I have purchased the new tires and have added a picture of the car with the new tires. 1969 Buick Electra 225 Barn Find Part 1 Video will open in a new window
