Vehicle description
1967 MG Midget Twin Cam Conversion Project and Spares Package
Rust free California black plate 1967 Midget barn-find garage stored since at least 1989. Vehicle is out of DMV system. Includes soft top assembly and rare factory hardtop One 95% complete partially disassembled 1275 engine One partially disassembled Morris Ital 1275+ engine One BMW K1200RS Cylinder head assembly and fuel injector rail One Nissan/Datsun 210 5 speed transmission with shifter plus driveshaft One rib-case four speed gearbox One complete 3.9 ratio rear axle assembly Three clutch assemblies One hydraulic clutch actuation kit One dual circuit brake distribution valve One spare fuel tank Plus same associated sundry parts
This is the culmination of several years of parts accumulation to build the ultimate Midget.
This 1967 Midget was a barn-find that the previous owner parked in 1988 due to a clutch issue. It was stored in his garage and subsequently stored in an aircraft hangar after I purchased it. The engine turns but would be best if it were disassembled and resealed at the very least. There is evidence of rodent damage done to the hoses. There is no evidence that the wiring was damaged. The car has no rust that I can find (why I bought it) and no evidence of heavy accident damage. The right door has been replaced at some point and it opens and closes as it should. The car is complete with the exception of the original steering wheel. There is an aftermarket radio installed and it is unknown if it functions.
The car comes with the factory soft top and frame as well as a factory hardtop. Rubber pieces for the hardtop are available and I can provide that information to the buyer. There is no spare wheel and tire.
Included in the auction with the car is a spares package. This package allows for a variety of different build specs.
The package includes: One (1) Spridget 1275 complete engine (minus carbs) that is partially disassembled. One (1) Morris Ital 1275+ engine (long block) that is partially disassembled. The block will require reworking. This block is much stronger than the “normal” 1275 bock. One (1) BMW K1200RS 130 hp cylinder head assembly and fuel injector rail complete. This is a 4 valve head and will adapt to the 1275 block with minimal modification. The Ital block is a perfect match for this level of power and more. One (1) Nissan/Datsun 210 5 speed all synchromesh transmission, shifter, and driveshaft assembly. This is the ideal 5 speed to convert for use in a Spridget. Smaller and lighter than the T-9 and does not require body modifications to fit so the conversion is reverseable. There are two companies providing conversion kits. One (1) spare rib-case 4 speed gearbox. If looking to keep things original this gearbox can be used in place of, or as part of a rebuild of the original box. One (1) 3.9 to 1 ratio axle assembly set up for bolt-up wheels. This is half of the needed parts to convert to bolt-up wheels or use the “pumpkin” as a spare. Two (2) very slightly used O.E.M. 1275 clutch assemblies plus one (1) ancient N.O.S. assembly. One (1) flywheel One (1) clutch actuation master, slave, and hose kit, new in the box. One (1) dual circuit brake distribution valve. This piece allows for a factory style dual circuit brake conversion. One (1) spare fuel tank, used. There are also some ancillary parts that are included in the sale.
Please ask all questions and arrange for all inspections before bidding. Zero feedback bidders MUST contact me before bidding or I will cancel your bid. Many detailed and high resolution pictures, so be patient as they load. Vehicle is sold "AS-IS" unless stated otherwise. There are no warranties/guarantees either expressed or implied. Please e-mail or call Sam (626/590-4177) with inquiries. Good luck bidding and thank you for viewing my auction.
