In 1957, influenced by industrial designer Raymond Loewy’s studio the bold-looking Studebaker Golden Hawk sported cleaner styling and improved overall performance thanks to a new McCullough supercharged 289 in³ 4.7 L V8 275 hp engine replacing the aging and heavy Packard unit. The new driveline relieved the front end of 100 pounds, with a proportionate increase in performance and handling.
