Vehicle description
This car was purchased at an auction in May of 2020. It is an older restoration with some bondo patching in the fenders and fiberglass on the front floor pans. It has a good grille and hubcaps. It was changed to a 3 Speed OD with floor shifter, console and bucket seats, likely out of a 60"s Hawk. There is a switch on the console next to the shifter for OD control. This car had front end damage and will require repair or replacement of LF fender, LF air scoop & trim and hood, as well as adjustment on other front sheet metal. The frame is not bent. This car is a great driving restoration project. It is licensed and drivable, but would need a headlight for night driving.
So far, this is the work I have done on the car: Some sheet metal straightening.
Rebuilt carburetor
Rebuilt fuel pump
New plugs & points
New exhaust elbow
New heat riser valve
New master cylinder and all wheel cylinders, hoses & shoes.
Oil change with zinc additive
I have been able to get the car running, driving and stopping. The carburetor has a sticky spot so it doesn"t idle down all the way without tapping the gas peddle. The overdrive solenoid makes noise when switching in and out, but doesn"t actually switch to OD when driving, which may be related to high idle. Engine is believed to be original Packard 352ci V8. Engine SN is 1 number off from production order, assumed to be an entry error. Speedometer was working, but quit while driving recently. Tach and clock do not work. Tach sender is complete. Tires, though not authentic to the year, are sport radials with lots of tread. Unknown if mileage is original. See link for additional photos and videos. https:/ www.timelockphoto.com/TM-Garage/Cars/56-Golden-Hawk-JP2/n-qwQH5v
Payment must be made within 7 days of auction close. Vehicle must be picked up with 14 days of auction close. Transportation available within Central US at $2/mile. Contact before bidding if interested to confirm availability.
