Vehicle description
What we have here is a project that has gotten out of control. Unfortunately, due to Covid issues I need to sell her. She is ready to find a new owner that is willing to finish off the final steps to making her almost new again. A dream Vanagon! I am in over my head with this project and need to pass her on to someone who values Vanagons and the work that I have put into her. She is so close to being done.
Here is what needs to be done (in my mind). New windshield (4 inch crack) https:/ xtremeautoglassprospittsburgh.com/product/1980-91-volkswagen-vanagon-carat-gl-mini-van-windshield-fw416/ $202), new window seals ($250 GoWesty), complete the auxiliary battery set-up (all parts already with car). Minor body work needs to be done on the front nose and repaint would be the cats meow along with a kick ass stereo. I like the rough look helps keeps the thieves away. Fix the brake light indicator on the dash (not a big deal but glows red all of the time) And lastly…. I would replace all of the bolts holding up the air conditioner frame in the back (plastic housing).
Now the good stuff. Runs amazing on the highway. There is a slight hiccup on the acceleration from zero speed, it is as if there is a slight delay from the message of foot down to go. There is a lot. of low end torque which makes it fun to drive on winding roads.
I believe in full transparency as you will see below and I know I am going to take a huge loss on this van. It is located in Northern Idaho. And I will certainly help with shipping details. It is advertised locally and I will sell it to which ever platform bids highest.
Why does this van cost so much? T his is a 1987 VW Vanagon Wolfsburg GL Tin Top, with rear facing jump seats and a table. Bench seat converts to a bed. Here is what I have done to her… almost making her new. Please feel free to look up any of the prices on the additions to the van that I have made through GoWesty (mostly) and VanAgain. The new engine is still not completely broken in. I am guessing there is about 750 miles on the new engine. Please use your imagination when thinking about the labor costs.

A ton of cash into Labor: The principal mechanics were Hayden Lake Automotive (Jarod Hirsch) and Euro Pro at Spokane Valley to finish and problem solve some initial engine management issues with the new install. Fuel injectors and software fixed the issue.
Full transparency and just to get the conversation started, I paid $6000 for the van. Then I added a $1650 Front Runner rack (I think you can land a helicopter on it).
The van needs love and just a little more work to make her perfect. Thank you for reading this far and happy bidding.
