It is a licensed version of the Fiat 124 Familiare, with many differences similar to the base model of the VAZ-2101. The first VAZ-2102 car rolled off the assembly line of the Volga Automobile Plant in 1971. Specifications The new model was largely unified with the base VAZ-2101 sedan. The dashboard and driver’s workplace are identical to those of the VAZ-2101. The car was equipped with a 62 liter gasoline engine. with. working on AI-93 gasoline. Due to the increased load on the engine and clutch, the gear ratio of the main pair was increased from 4.3 to 4.44, using the so-called cargo gear.
In 1978, the production of a VAZ-21021 modification with a four-cylinder 69-horsepower VAZ-21011 engine was launched. It was intended primarily for export, as well as the VAZ-21023 with a VAZ-2103 carburetor engine with 77 hp. In the export version, the VAZ-2102 was equipped with a wiper and a washer for the rear cargo door, seats from the VAZ-2106 with head restraints.
Further, the plant carried out the following modernization of cars:
until 1977, negative diodes on generators were pressed into the cover; in 1983, changes were made to the electrical part; carburetors 2101 were modernized in 1974 and produced until 1976, the third series 2101-1107010-03 (type "WEBER") - since 1976 no 1978. Since 1980, new carburetors 2105-1107010-20 (of the OZON type) have been mounted on cars, which, according to reviews of virtually all motorists, are worse than the previous ones. In 1980, the model range was modernized: they began to install a new ignition distributor of type 30.3706-01, a 2-liter glass washer reservoir (not all) and foot washer activation on all models, as on the VAZ-21011.
