What do you get when you take a tubular chassis convertible that weighs as much as a Miata, add in a V8 that makes more power and torque than a Mustang, give it an attractive interior, a fiberglass body, and nothing else? Well in 1993, TVR called it the "Chimaera." And it was beautiful.
Ladies and gentlemen, this is your chance to own a piece of history: the very first 1997 TVR Chimaera ever imported to the US. And it just happens to be dressed in the best color combination, Birkdale Green (British Racing Green) with a black top, an oyster interior, and matching green carpet. Chimaera was a fitting name really; the Chimaera from Greek mythology was a beast comprised of various animal parts; TVR used parts from Peugeot, Vauxhall, Rover and Buick to make this hand-built road beast. Power comes from a 4.0 liter V8 making 243 horsepower and 270 lb/ft of torque (by comparison, a 1997 Mustang GT convertible made 215 hp and 265 torque and was 1100 pounds heavier). An LT77 5 speed transmission helps you put power to the ground. Motor runs smooth as silk with a lovely exhaust note and gearbox shifts perfectly. This TVR has 80k miles and has just gone through a full 140 point inspection by the experts at Arrow Works garage in Kent, England. The engine, gearbox, axles, brakes, suspension, electrical system and all other systems have been certified to be in excellent working order. Vehicle has received a thorough cleaning and detailing in and exterior. The engine has just received professional detailing and polishing. Interior is in great shape for a 25 year old car; no rips or tears in the seats. Armrests, carpets and other interior surfaces are not worn or scratched up. This vehicle also has STACKS of documentation and service records from its two previous owners from oil changes to the original owner"s manual. It will also come with a British Motor Heritage Certificate, which is a copy of its entry in the original factory ledger.
