Vehicle description
Unrestored original 1962 Cadillac Fleetwood. This is a rare 60 Special sedan, the one between the standard Sedan DeVille and the Limousine. This is one BIG Caddy! I never, ever thought I would sell it, but massive expenses from a difficult pregnancy force a reluctant sale. Ebay does not recognize VIN numbers older than 1981; the Caddy"s ID is: 62M096167
I have owned it since 2011, purchased it from a local man in Livermore valley who had previously inherited from a widowed lady relative of his. She was the original owner, and purchased new from Rector Cadillac in Burlingame ( now a Porsche-Audi dealership). As he had no real interest in it ( and I had been looking for a fintailed Caddy for years), I brought it home with me.
It is an original super 60 Special, the BIG one, with uber-cool fins, NON-post windows, massive grille and lots of chrome. and it has ALWAYS been black. I would surmise it has been refinished once in the last 60 years at least. The finish was actually quite nice when I purchased it, but weathering from sitting at home while I"ve been deployed has made it look dull. I would suggest a nice clean repaint, with minimal bodywork required. It would look amazing.
It has been a slow restoration, as I have literally been deployed more than time to fix it up and drive it. I have spent a serious amount of money having the interior redone ( dusty on the photos, but it is in EXCELLENT shape). I had the seats reupholstered in old lined pattern, the headliner redone, the visors redone, the dash recovered ( and a cover fabricated for it as well), the rear filler panel redone, door inserts, kick panels and a new carpet installed.
The powertrain is in great shape. 90K Low miles on its original untouched 390 CID stock engine with the original Rochester QuadraJet 4V carburetor. It runs GREAT ( just put a new set of plugs and changed the oil and flushed the radiator), with ZERO overheating issues, noises or knocks. Only maintenance had been a remanufactured radiator, new water pump and fan clutch, along with a new battery. It has literally required NOTHING. Automatic transmission shifts well into all gears, super smoothly. This is an A/C equipped car, but I never recharged it. It does have Power windows ( with super cool REAR wing windows, also electric), Power seats, tilt wheel and Power antenna.
I had put new tires, struts and brakes in 2013 before I went to AFG. Less than 5K miles on the tires. It had a new battery put on then, but it went bad from sitting, so I just put in another one, a nice INTERSTATE heavy-duty battery.
Super cool, ultra-classic car that will guaranteed turn heads ( always did), with a little TLC and some minor elbow grease. Regretfully, with my new son, it really seems an unlikely endeavor for me. Thus, I would rather give it to someone who will restore and display in its former glory, and enjoy it more than I.
RUST FREE chassis, floorboards, doors, door sills, wheelwells, trunk floor and pretty much everywhere. There is a small spot of corrosion on the right front corner of the hood as I have pictured, and a tiny spot on the right rear lower window moulding. Besides that, this Caddy is ROCK SOLID, reflecting its dry California life.
This Cadillac has original California black plates from 1962! along with a clear California title, in MY NAME. It has been registered to me since 2012. I will be glad to assist coordinating shipping of this Classic anywhere nationwide or overseas, at the most economical shipping rate available. Please keep in mind, I do not control transporter pick-up or delivery times; that is pending weather conditions and shipping/ trucking delivery schedules. I will do everything I can on my end to ensure and expedite delivery at the most financially sensible rate on the market.
Should you be the winning bidder, I would like to receive payment within THREE business days, please. Payment can be made via cashier"s check or certified funds. Personal, business or annuity checks may be utilized, but must clear funds first, prior to any transportation arrangements being made. Upon receipt of payment, the CA title and Bill of sale will be sent to the buyer via USPS Priority mail.
If you have questions or would like to discuss other payment arrangements be sure to contact me prior to placing a bid.
An alternate method of payment can be done via bank wire transfer to my local CHASE Bank branch here in town. It is a very simple process, and it helps expedite delivery of the car.
My reputation and feedback speak for themselves. I am a lifelong California resident and serving member in the Armed forces for nearly 26 years. Why buy a car from a source of questionable or minimal feedback ( usually it"s for a reason), some shady car dealer type that knows nothing about these old cars, or some equally questionable seller overseas ?
This Caddy is home in sunny California, in my driveway at home, awaiting love and restoration by a new enthusiast. Feel free to contact me with questions or serious inquiries (650) 430-4660 NLT 9 pm PST, please. Thank you for viewing.
