Vehicle description

Vehicle Details Somewhat rare, well equipped 1957 Pontiac Super Chief. Sunlight yellow (original) 2 door hardtop. Original 347/270 horsepower 4 barrel motor, with ps, pb, factory air (complete but does not blow cold), dual exhaust, radio. I have a copy of the original title along with the original factory service policy from Cobb Pontiac. The original owner was from Tulsa, OK. There are a lot of new parts including:Complete new interior using original Pontiac materialP215/75R tiresAmerican Racing wheelsFront end rebuild including kingpins/bushings, tie rod ends, shocks, A arm seals, sway bar bushings & links, front end alignment, brake hoses, and wheel cylindersBrake shoes front and rearGas tank senderElectronic ignitionMotor mountsHeater coresNewly rebuilt steering box by LARS ($847.)Rag jointA/C wiring harnessRestored carburetor by California Carburetor ExchangeRear view mirrorDoor handlesGlove BoxTrunk matTrunk W/SRepro owner's manualWiper bladesSill platesGallon of starlight yellow lacquerSeat BeltsCar is not perfect, but does make a good impression. Starts right up, runs good, and compression checks good in all cylinders. All of the gauges work, horn works, turn signals work, all the lights, including the backup lights and interior lights work. The dash etc. is unmolested. The original radio comes on, but it's AM and I can't get a station where I'm located so I'm not sure if it would work OK where there is one. The power brakes are fantastic, stops on a dime. Engine is shown without the aftermarket air cleaner so that the carburetor could be seen. The transmission filler tube is leaking. There are some paint bubbles and rust spots on the body as shown in the photos. These do not go through, but there are some through spots on the door bottoms. The car sat outside unattended and the two front and one interior rear floor pan had to be repaired. The frame, body mounts, quarter panels, and front fenders were unaffected. As usual, the vacuum wipers don't work well even though the unit was rebuilt. Easily replaced with the electric Pontiac motor, or the readily available 55-57 Chevy motor. There is a vibration with the motor running and not moving. It's more apparent at certain rpm's but doesn't go away while driving, but is less noticeable. I can not figure out the cause. As I mentioned the motor runs good, doesn't miss, and the compression checks OK in all cylinders. I turned 76 in October and had triple bypass surgery in December. I just can't finish it.
