Vehicle description
1954 MG TF
The TF is widely regarded as the most graceful and desirable of all the T-Series by MG aficionados. British sports car maker MG produced the TF from 1953 through 1955. There is just something about the 1954 MG TF design that just looks good from any angle. Yes, MG made some great looking cars from the early 1930s all the way to the MGA…but without question the MG TF just looks the best in our opinion. It is one of the few English roadsters that looks as good with the top up as it does with the top down. When the TF is fitted with wire wheels, they really give the TF a sports car look. Not to take anything from its predecessor the MG TD but the ‘swoopiness’ that MG added to the TF fenders, grille and the hood, to some collectors like us, it just makes the TF look perfectly balanced. The 1954 MG TF in this listing spent many decades in a museum. The MG TF runs just fine as you can see in the video.
The 4-cylinder engine with dual carburetor runs good and stops as it should. The underside is quite tidy as you can see from the photos. The odometer reads 7,427 miles but the mileage is not documented. As it turns out, the gas tank needs to be cleaned or boiled out as it does have some crud in it and eventually it could clog the gas line. The car will need some TLC to make it truly road worthy but it is a fine car as you can see from the photos. Again, check out the video! The top bows have a little kink in it and they will need to be straightened out so that the top can go up and down easily. Side curtains need some work. The reserve is set low so everybody can bid. This would be a wonderful car to get in shape for the upcoming summer and fall classic car shows and tours.
