Vehicle description
A very solid, original and unrestored TD. It was repainted in the 1970"s and has had some touch-ups since then. Paint is still in very acceptable condition. I"ve owned the car for three years and have seen no indication it was ever in any accidents. Car starts, runs, and drives very well. Mileage shown is 23,612. I cannot verify that this is correct, but over the last 17 years the documented miles driven have averaged only 338 miles per year.So the mileage might be correct. The first owner bought the car new in New Hampshire and kept it for 48 years. I have the full ownership history for the car and spoke to three of the former five owner"s of the car. This car was built near the end of the TD production run and came from the factory with engine number XPAG TD30287. At some point, maybe very early in its history, the engine was replaced with number XPEG TF30928. The engines were almost identical with the same specifications. I removed the floorboards, repainted them, and inspected the frame and undercarriage. I found the wood to be in excellent condition and there was only minor rust repair that had been done in the rocker panels and to the bottom of the side curtain storage box. The car is very solid. The water temperature gauge does not work and instead a moto-meter has been added to the radiator cap in the style of the TC models. The front driving lights work but have never been connected. All the essentials on the car work well. Car has 60 lbs. of oil pressure at cold start up and stays above 50 when hot. The car pulls strong and there is virtually no oil consumption. It cruises great at 45-50 MPH. Like every other British car I"ve ever owned it drips a little bit of oil, but in this case, very little. I installed a new Moss leather upholstery kit in 2016. Car comes with toneau cover, convertible top and frame, side curtains, Brooklands windscreens and shop manual. The convertible top was not re-installed after replacing the upholstery as I do not drive the car in the cold or wet. This car has obviously been maintained well over the years and is an excellent driver quality car. I would welcome serious prospective bidders to inspect the car.
