Vehicle description
Project - 928 Euro 1981. No reserve.
This 928 was my daily driver for almost three years. Recently, I went off-road to avoid a deer and scraped up the paint and bodywork. Minor suspension damage also resulted. Hagerty’s appraiser, with the help of a Porsche specialist, estimated the damage at $6,900 including the front bumper cover and lower valance, bodywork and paint, tie rod assembly, front sway bar and links, and oil pan. The estimate also includes two new tires, however, the sale will include a set of four Continental summer performance tires having approximately 3,000 miles of use (this will reduce the Hagerty estimate to $6,500). I can supply a copy of the written repair estimate upon request. If you do your own work the cost will be considerably less. Hagerty did not “total” the car, so I assume that the New York State title will be continue to be clear. There are no loans against the car. I have already replaced the car and want to sell the 928 as a project. The car was a Federalized import by a previous owner. I purchased the car on BAT in Nov. 2018 Link: https:/ bringatrailer.com/listing/1981-porsche-928-5/.
The VIN is WP0ZZZ92ZBS800337. Ebay"s interface would not recognize this number. In addition to the above noted repairs, the car also needs refurbishment of the air conditioning and the aftermarket radio and power antenna. First to second gear results in a slight “grind”. (starting in second gear works well). The odometer is stuck at 90,000 miles. I have added between 10,000 and 15,000 miles in my three years. Total mileage is unknown and it is not possible for me to estimate the true mileage. The rear and front fog lights and rear wiper do not function but the rest of the electrical system is operational. Aftermarket ANSA exhaust system is in good condition and gives the right amount of Porsche engine noise. As a European car, seating is the desirable Euro-cloth. All seat covers are in excellent condition, replaced by a previous owner. The transmission is a 5-speed dogleg. Wheels are original phone-dials. There is no sunroof or door guards. The 4.5 liter engine runs well and is very strong. A previous owner repainted the car in its original Wine Red, although paint work was not to a high standard. Bubbling is beginning to show at various window frames. I am located in Buffalo; the car is presently located at Eksten Autoworks in Rochester, NY. Eksten, a Porsche specialist, performed a full inspection of the car and assisted Hagerty in finalizing the repair estimate. Trades are not considered. I will assist in shipping if needed.
