This is a "restored" 1999-2005 (Gen 5) Tony Stewart #20 105" chassis NASCAR set up for road course racing. Recognized as the cheapest horsepower per dollar for any legitimate, log-booked, race car available. . you will not find a faster, better set up, and better performing race car for your money. This car has a real NASCAR engine . . 743hp, 358 cid Chevy SB2 with dyno sheets. Most cars at the price point come with boring small block chevy". This is the real deal! Even if you"re just a Tony Stewart fan, this will be well within your budget to stuff in your garage and make your neighbors jealous. But. . if you are a serious racer or track day junkie, here are all of the important details. I bought this car 2 years ago from a middle-man in TN who bought it from the "restorer". The paperwork claims it was a Joe Gibbs Chassis #061-0455 (confirmed by inspection) and was last raced by Stewart on May 25, 2005 at Richmond (unconfirmed). After that season"s chassis rules change it was sold as a roller and picked up by the restorer in 2009 and completed in 2010. There are various log book entries for test and tunes until I purchased the car in 2017. Since then, I"ve spent a lot of effort getting the car properly equipped and set up. I have been running it in Vintage and Historic Racing Series at locals Southeast tracks where it has been very competitive. But, I"m ready to move on to a different car. . so now it"s time to find a new home for #20. The car has been exclusively maintained and worked on by Vintage Race Car Restorations in North Georgia, who specialize only in Vintage NASCARs. All of the following was done by their skilled hands: New Ford 9" Rear housing with negative camber for road racing Dan Elliott built rear set (.400 ratio) Jerico Road Course gearbox 2-Stage rear pump replace Rear coolers and lines ultrasonic cleaned and flushed Rear suspension spherical bushings replaced Penske compression adjustable dampers dynoed, rears rebuilt. New full containment seat New 20gal fuel cell New fire bottle (4 years remaining) New belts (4 years remaining) New clutch master cylinder New steering cross-bar 6 Degree front spindles w/3” caliper FRONT mounts New front road racing calipers All fresh fluids with Castrol Professional racing DOT5 brake fluid New front brake ducting New front windshield Complete Setup (sheet attached) Everything on this car works as designed; the oil heaters, the trans and rear coolers/pumps, the brake coolers, engine fans. . all of it. The AIM Solo2 Lap Timer, helmet, and driver cooling setup that are pictured in the car are not included in the sale price and will not transfer, unless special arrangements are made after the sale. This car is very fast and very competitive. Two weeks ago, it qualified 9 out of 23 cars in the annual HSR Mitty at Road Atlanta with a 1:32 lap time (video below) in the same field as Bill Elliott himself. This car has also been run on the Charlotte ROVAL and for a test and tune at Carolina Motorsports Park. Each time this car is started, the proper startup procedure is used (oil heated, engine primed). The engine has always run a 7,600 RPM rev limit except for the last HSR Sprint Race where it ran an 8,400 RPM limit. SB2"s are regularly run to 8,600 RPM and can handle 9,000+ if desired. The lower rev limit is used to lengthen the life of the engine. Below are some videos of the car"s on track performance.
