Vehicle description
This is a 1983 March 83C Indycar , Cosworth DFX powered car. This car was originally sold to Dick Simon in 1983. Simon entered it in the 1983 Indy 500 as the number 22 Vermont American car. Dick qualified for the Indy 500 in 20th with a speed of 192.993, he finished the race in 15th place. At the end of 1983 Dick Simon sold the car to Hoffman Racing. The Hoffmans entered the car in the 1984 Indy 500 as car number 57, with driver Spike Gehlhausen. Spike qualified the car for the Indy 500 in 25th with a speed of 200.478, he finished the race in the 31st position. The Hoffmans entered the car again in the 1985 Indy 500 as car 69 ,with driver Dick Ferguson, however he was unable to qualify the car. After the 1985 Indy 500 the car was sold and went into a warehouse to be stored for 32 years. The car is just as it last ran at Indy in 1985, complete as last ran. The car has the Cosworth DFX that ran at the speedway and was properly stored (pickled) in 1985 after practice at the Indy500. This March is chassis number 83C-13. We have not tried to start the car. Car is complete as removed from the warehouse. Questions about the race car 812 667 6448
