Heavy Duty 2002 Freightliner MT55 stepvan with very low miles (about 35,209).
Basically, it is kind of like one of the big FEDEX or UPS delivery step vans, but heavier duty as I believe most of those are MT45s. Compared to Freightliner"s more standard Stepvan (the MT45), the MT55 is a heavier-duty vehicle that has a gross vehicle weight rating typically between 20,000 - 30,000 pounds and offers a payload capacity of up to 19,000 pounds and has a greater volume capacity, making it a more suitable choice for larger payload applications, like delivery and service contractor trucks. This particular MT-55 has a gross vehicle weight rating of 12,700 KG (28,000 LBS).
Tire size is 22.5x7.5. Rear axle has 4 tires, all have significant wear left.
5.9 L diesel engine
Has some sort of built in generator & compressor. I don"t know if either work as I"ve never used them (I am the second owner & I just used it for antique/collectable flea markets several times a year). It also has cruise control, but I"ve never used it because I never drove super far in it. It does have one of those plugs that can be used to keep the engine warm to make diesel engines easier to start during cold weather. THAT, I recently tried out & it appeared to work as the diesel engine easily started right up on a cold day.
Originally used for construction & has shelving on one wall, and a workbench on the other wall with drawers that latch so they don"t open while driving, but both can easily be removed.
Since someone else asked, I am the second owner & owned it since Spring of 2011. During that time, although I would start it during the winter, it has never been driven on roads during the winter during the time I have owned it (as I didn"t do antique/collectable flea markets during winter). While it does have some minor rust because it is from Illinois, it does not affect the structural integrity and the frame is VERY SOLID. Additional pictures, including of the undercarriage and rear of the truck, can be found at https:/ chicago.craigslist.org/nwc/hvo/d/elk-grove-village-low-miles-hd/7061371066.html
Aluminum body, aluminum diamond plate floor, smooth aluminum walls & ceiling.
Although it is currently set up with an extended cab with an extra seat behind the driver and empty space next to that, the seat can be removed & the dividing sliding gate/wall could be moved forward if additional space is desired in the back.
Overall length is approximately between 27 and 28 feet from bumper to bumper & about 8 feet wide. The rear cargo area is about 15 feet long, but there is another 39 inches between the cage/wall and the front row of seats. The cage/wall looks like it could be moved forward relatively easily to give you about another 3 feet of cargo space if you wanted 18 feet in the rear. You"d also have to unbolt & remove the third seat that is located behind the driver. You might even be able to reposition the third seat between the two front seats (or between & closer behind).
Has always been a good runner. Starts right up.
Yeah, you could even turn it into a food truck or even a camper.
I do welcome you to come see the truck & take it for a test drive prior to making a payment because, like most used vehicles, this vehicle is sold "as is" with no warranty.
