Vehicle description
For sale is this very nicely prepared 1970 Datsun 510 race car.
This Datsun runs well, and all mechanicals perform as they should. (brakes, clutch, transmission, etc.)
The body is very solid. It"s an older paint job, but still has enough shine to grab attention on and off the track. There is some minor cosmetic damage on the driver side rear quarter panel, but it is nothing major and is purely cosmetic, nothing structural.
The interior has been recently refreshed, and a new rear bulkhead was installed. The windshield is glass, all other windows have been replaced with Plexiglass. The rollcage is a bolt-in unit.
Underneath, this Datsun is very nice. Not having been constantly exposed to the elements has sort of preserved this car. There is no rust or rot to speak of.
The engine is composed of a Peanut head, 87mm pistons, 240z water pump, and is fueled by Mikuni carbs mated to a BRE manifold. This engine runs very well, and has been recently rebuilt. Leakdown and compression tests were performed, resulting in ~7% leakdown and ~175psi across all 4 cylinders.
The suspension on this Datsun is composed of Koni adjustable shocks, 1.25" front sway bar, and front struts & disc brakes from a 280ZX.
The transmission is a 5 speed unit from a 280Z, and the rear is a 3.83 unit. The clutch is a Quartermaster twin disc unit.
This Datsun comes with a log book showing 38 entries, with the last competitive event being in 2013. This car has competed with VRG, SVRA, at the Lime Rock Vintage Fall Festival and other vintage race organizations. In recent time, the car has seen an engine refresh, a fluid flush, and cosmetic work on the interior and under the hood. In August of 2018 we ran the car in an autocross event, and everything performed very well. With some fuel and fresh tires, this car should be ready to hit the track.
A transferrable Canadian registration is included with the sale of this Datsun.
Also included with the sale is an extensive spare parts package. These spares include: Fiberglass front fenders Fiberglass hood Spare engine block Spare crankshaft Spare Mikuni carburetors & parts Brake & suspension parts 10 extra wheels We can provide a more detailed spare list upon request.
