Vehicle description
Up for sale, is our 2010 General Dynamics M1163 ITV PM 4x4 Growler, with only 2137 original miles. Our family has owned and been around various/numerous military vehicles over the past 20 years and this is one of the cleanest and most solid driving of any we have owned!
Highlights include: MWM Sprint 4 Cylinder Turbo Diesel Engine Automatic Transmission Terrain Mobilizer with 4 modes (Highway, Cross Country, Sand/Desert, and Kneeling modes with Central self-inflating tire system, Fox Air Ride Suspension and duel fuel tanks Low speed four wheel steering (rear steering linkage has been spot welded to the frame by the government however, this can be easily reversed by grinding the tack-welds) Integrated Factory Heater Single primary battery cut-switch 2 Door 3 Passenger (including multiple-point harnesses) On-board integrated air compressor system 12v Outlet All of the frame work (complete) for the canvas soft top LED turn signals, brake lights, and headlight system No leaks in the fuel, oil, or cooling system (this is something you always want to be certain of on any vehicle purchase). Brakes are fully operational with lots of life left as are the tires. . . . Goodyear Wrangler Duratrac Tires OEM 235/85-16
We are in the midst of building a new home and no longer have the space for a few of the vehicles we only occasionally drive. This is such a fun vehicle to own/drive and quite the conversation piece everywhere you go. They are very hard to come by and were a very limited production model by the USMC. This could be your chance to own a little slice of rare military history. As for being street legal, check with the regulations in your state but most states appear to classify them in the same category as a jeep, unlike the Hummer Military vehicles which can be extremely difficult to register for street legal use (in some states).
Those of you who follow and partake in ownership of such military vehicles, more than likely know what the GROWLER is all about (specs etc.). Yes these are very cool and unique to own and yes, when you purchase any true purist oriented military vehicle (such as the Growler), you willingly take on and inherit all the little idiosyncratic and mechanical / audible nuances that accompany such types of ownership- this is part of the joy that accompanies owning such a rare and lovely piece of U.S. military history! That said, they are very reliable and incredible fun to drive!
We apologize in advance however, we are not interested in trades etc. VERY SERIOUS BIDDERS ONLY PLEASE! PLEASE, if you have questions, ASK them prior to bidding! I am more than happy to answer any specific questions that you may have. ph:1- I reserve the right to end the auction early, should the vehicle sell locally.
