Vehicle description
If you are looking for a reliable motor home with healthy bones and manufactured to solid standards on a Freightliner Chassis and you are prepared to give her some TLC and finish what we started, this might be your opportunity. This 36 foot diesel pusher built by Winnbago has one SuperSlide and is powered by the trusted Cummins 5.9L ISB Diesel Engine turbocharged to 275HP and the reliable legendary MH3000 6-speed Allison transmission running on 22.5 inch commercial truck wheels. It has a 6.5 KW ONAN Quiet Diesel Generator and 50 Amp Service, 92 gal. fresh water, 55 gal. black water and 53 gal. grey water holding tanks, 122 cu. feet of outside basement storage, insulated tanks, 39 gal. LP tank. there are 125 Watts of solar on the roof and there is room for more. Two roof A/C units keep it cool on hot days and a 4-door Norcold two way refrigerator gives you what you need for food storage for a few weeks. Queen size walk around bed, shower and separate bathroom, 300 Watt Inverter running your entertainment equipment, Victron 712 blue tooth Battery Monitor, TV has been moved from the invonvenient front middle position to a place over the door, where you can watch it comfortably from your living room while the fireplace in front of you provides a homey feeling. This is/was a work in progress planned to be our retirement home away from home. "Winnie" has hydraulic leveling jacks. When we bought the RV the former owner had started to improve the unit. There is no carpet left and the booth dinette has been taken out and replaced with cabinets, table and chairs that provide storage and comfortable eating/working. The (too small and uncomfortable) RV miniature recliner was taken out and replaced by a beautiful electrical fire place. The cabinet that housed the CRT TV was transformed into a useful cabinet providing more storage and taking away an obstacle that the driver was prone to hit with his head standing up out of his seat. Living Room and bedroom TV are modern flat screen TVs. Brand new starter Batteries call the engine to life on the first crank and three newer house batteries provide ample power and are recharged by the 125 Watt solar panels and on rainy days by the most reliable generator known in the industry. We owned this RV for three years and had it serviced. This rig sleeps 2 people comfortably and allows them to travel for months providing the comfort of a home. With 36 feet (35" 11") we did fit in State Parks (most have a length restriction to 35 feet, but we never had a problem) and we were towing our Chevy Trail Blazer (4300 lbs.) without any issues. The rig rides comfortably on air suspension and provides air brakes and J-brake like a commercial truck/bus. It is also one of the rare models that have a driver door providing an additional safety exit in case of an accident or fire and Winnebago in those years provided the ultimate build quality and safety features like a steel cage and automotive windshields (not the plastic crap of today"s RV"s) with a load capacity that allows you to take whatever you need with you safely without overloading the RV. The only thing not working on this RV is the automotive Dash-Air Conditioner (worthless anyway with the grand panorama windshields and I haven"t found a unit older than 5 years where it was still work and do not know a single owner that cares - we run the generator and the roof AC on hot days). This rig is very maneuverable and easy to drive, has a backup camera and with the engine out back you can actually talk to your partner on the passenger seat. It is ready to go anywhere or you can continue customizing it to your specific needs. The age shows on the outside. We have started taking the ugly and worn decals off and were planning to get a simple two tone paint job without "swushes". We have replaced all incandescent light and bulbs with LED and 12 Volt and USB plugs are added in the RV. The floor is vinyl, but needs a bit attention to make it look perfect again and the plastic fenders have a few cracks from former use that we were in the process to fix. An RV in this quality will cost you normally around 50000 and you will have to address quite a few things that are already done on this unit. We "stumbled" into another Winnebago Diesel Pusher that is more expensive, but was our initial choice of model, so rare that we gave up hope and settled for the Chieftain. We used Winnie almost every weekend and she has accumulated 96000 miles on a drive train that is known to last several hundred thousand miles and a generator with 1200 hours that lasts usually 4000-5000 hours. We don"t have the room for two large RV"s and only limited time to continue improving "Winnie", so we decided to offer it as-is. We are not in any hurry or under any pressure, so if we do not find the right buyer now we will hold on to the unit and finish our improvement plans and sell it then at a higher price. There are only a few RV"s out there that have the Cummins 5.9 (we get 10-12 mpg towing), the durable commercial grade 3000 series Allison 6-speed transmission (many have the small 5-speed version of the 2000 series) and the freightliner chassis (many have a modified Chevy or Ford Van chassis or the non-commercial grade Oskosh or Workhorse chassis). Healthy bones and a healthy heart was what we were looking for and a manufacturer that is still around and provides replacement parts if needed. Winnie is built like a tank and reliable for long travels while being one of the most fuel efficient RV"s in this class, no need of DEF, very little electronic stuff prone for failure. If you are looking for something alike then let"s talk. We will deliver for cost and expenses in the continental U.S. I don"t need help selling and We know ALL scams on this place (save yourself and us some precious time). Serious inquiries only please and please no low ball offers, we are not stupid or desperate.
