Vehicle description
* 1999 International Auto Transport * * GALVANIZED, U-HAUL Single Auto * * 5 New CARLISLE Trailer Tires, 7/20 *
Before you and up for bid/purchase is my 1999 International Auto Transport manufactured expressly for U-HAUL. U-HAUL does NOT resell these galvanized auto transports. They will happily sell to the public the old pre-1994 Orange Steel transports, however, they are prone to rusting away as they go all over America to heavy salt use states.
Anyone that has ever rented one of these galvanized transports from U-HAUL, knows how effortlessly they tow. They are truly a one man (or woman) load, secure, and go in 10 minutes setup. It is ideal for a small independent auto dealer, collector/hobbyist, or weekend autocross/drifter enthusiast.
The transport was purchased at auction by a Denver Police Officer (friend) at auction in 2007. It was abandoned equipment. After notifying UHAUL 3 separate times to come get their equipment and not doing so, the officer made certain to be at the police auction the day the trailer was to be sold. He legally purchased it, registered it, insured it, and titled it. He subsequently owned it for 5 years. I have in my possession all documentation copies from his time of ownership. He kept it until I purchased it in 2012. If I did not recently receive a serious health concern diagnosis, it was my intention to never sell it. I have had a Featherlite 3110 single car trailer, this is better more secure system with the ratchet down front tire application. Of note, International does NOT offer these for sale in a civilian application either, they are exclusively for U-HAUL which explains why I had to have it when the opportunity presented. I had rented them for years and was determined to find one. I had purchased an orange steel one in New Mexico, upon media blasting it, swiss cheese was exposed. It was junk, I was disheartened and dumped it.
The trailer has been in private ownership for 13 years now. For any overzealous UHAUL supervisory employee that thinks they are going to be a hero and recovered a piece of stolen equipment, you will look like a damn fool. Simply take the original INTERNATIONAL assigned VIN which was assigned when the trailer was new, and which the trailer still bears to this day, and submit it to the UHAUL database in AZ. You will find that the trailer was cleared from the UHAUL system in 2014 after repeated legal threats by my attorney prompted by UHAUL harassment. You see, none of these UHAUL jackasses wanted to take responsibility and acknowledge that they lost one of their transports, so they never purged it from the system, that is until I took legal ownership of it.
The VIN # of the trailer is: *14HU1220XXBAT2626 *. As I have stated, I have legally owned the trailer for over 8 years. It is registered, insured and possesses a clean Colorado title in my name ready to be transferred. I have every release document from UHAUL as well as the documents referencing the abandoned equipment, sold at Police Auction on January 10, 2007 status. This galvanized auto transport will never rust.
The dimensions of the trailer are as follows:
* The overall length is approximately 22", the deck area is 16".
* The distance between the deck lip edges is 80", 6 feet, 8 inches, The left fender as can be seen, lowers for easy vehicle entry and egress. Once the height of a vehicle exceeds the height of the fenders, a wider vehicle can be accommodated. I have had my 1973 K5 Blazer, a 2003 Chevy SSR, and a 1994 Dodge Viper, which has a very wide footprint. No issues.
* The deck tire surface length is 150". 12 feet, 6 inches
* The accommodating tire width of the deck in 19".
* The ramps pull out, but do NOT release, so there is no concern of ramp theft.
* There are 3 safety secure chains with hooks front and rear of the transport, there are 3 chains which secure the coupler/tongue to the tow hitch.
* The trailer has a surge brake, so there is no need for a brake controller on the tow vehicle, although I did have one for additional peace of mind. I would go through the brake system and replace the fluid reservoir, brake line and fluid. Like any piece of equipment, routine maintenance is to be expected if one wants longevity.
The axle hubs are self lubricating, I would recommend as I did carrying along 2 extra hubs when traveling. The hubs are inexpensive and readily available from UHAUL. Additionally, there is a GM application available at any auto parts store.
This transport has so much potential to be taken to a custom transport level. I primarily reside in Colorado. 2 years ago while in Vegas, I brought the trailer by "RICKS RESTORATION", this is one of the vendors on the PAWN STARS TV show, we discussed having them entirely refurbish the trailer for approximately $6500. New axles, new brakes, polishing of all the galvanized areas which when polished comes up like chrome just as the aluminum on the fenders. New aluminum wheels, refurbish the lighting system. Media blast and powder coat the surge brake and the entire tongue area. It is only limited by ones imagination. But know once you do, you will own a trailer that NO ONE else does! If you"re like me, if you like to own what others can"t or don"t, this is your trailer.
* The safety chains generally present with rust once a year, there are easy and inexpensive to replace.
* The coupler also presents with surface rust once a year, I wire brush it off. A permanent solution would be to media blast and then powder coat it. Notwithstanding my health diagnosis, I intended to do this in the spring. I recently received a cancer diagnosis and that is why I am paring down on vehicles and equipment just in case my health takes a negative turn.
* All lights, running, brake, license plate illumination and turn signal"s are fully operational.
* The trailer weighs just 2000 lbs. The weight rating capacity is conservatively rated at 4500 lbs. I have had 5500 on it with an older ("70"s) Ford 1/2 ton truck which it easily pulled.
* Axle bearings are self lubricating.
* 5 brand new CARLISLE trailer tires July of 2020. ($500.00) The wheels on the trailer are in good condition, the spare wheel has never necessitated mounted, it is brand new.
* Crank down to raise & lower the front of the trailer works properly.
* 4 prong connector
I have a reserve, it is reasonable and fair, please do not ask what it is, as I will not disclose it. Bid what you can afford and are willing to pay for the 1999 International Galvanized Single Auto Transport that you see before you. For anyone not wanting to risk losing the trailer, call me directly to discuss a "buy it now". DO NOT call and ask me "what"s the lowest that you"ll take?" It is in the price range of a Featherlite 3110.
It"s the last single auto trailer you"ll ever have to buy, and you simply will not find another one of these International galvanized transport trailers for sale anywhere, I guarantee it. Doubt me, please do a cursory search.
Clean Colorado title in my name with all legal supporting release documentation from U-HAUL.
Call me directly with any questions. While not tethered to a phone, I answer my phone quicker than I respond to e-mail.
A $1000.00 initial payment is due and payable within 24 hours of auction close via PayPal NO exceptions. The balance is then due and payable within 7 days thereafter under condition and arrangement made between myself and the buyer. I prefer a legitimate bank to bank wire transfer for the balance, however, I will accept cash in person if you are to arrive and trailer it home for yourself within 7 days of auction close.
S hipping is the sole responsibility of the buyer. I will gladly work to coordinate with your chosen shipper, or to store the trailer for a reasonable time frame while you coordinate your schedule, provided that the trailer has been paid for in full.
If you choose to drive down and trailer it yourself, once it has been paid for in full, I will overnight the title and bill of sale to the new owner. If you drive down and prefer, I can hand deliver these documents to you upon your arrival.
I do NOT accept PayPal for the entire purchase price, only the initial $1000.00 payment. I have some good extras that I will be including with the listing price, additional chains, locks, an electric winch, etc.
Thanks for looking, and good luck when you bid! You"ll be glad you did.
