The Good… Tag axle provides added stability in high winds or when towing a trailer or vehicle. 6 of 8 tires are new (purchased in 2017). Tire and window covers included. Custom concrete kitchen countertops. Automatic awning with wind-detection. New roof (less than 5 years old). One-touch Bigfoot hydraulic leveling system. One very large super-slide. 4-channel color camera system. Residential refrigerator. Dishwasher. Genset runs perfectly. Carburetor rebuilt in 2017 and runs for 30 minutes monthly minimum. TWO flat-screen TVs with powered digital antennas. Carpet removed and replaced with high-end laminate flooring. Open-concept living area with lots of room. Dual-powered water heater (electric or LP) works wonderfully. New electric step motor. No issues, binding or sagging. Auxiliary battery. CB Radio On-board battery charger with new power switch and voltage converter. Cruise control. Heated mirrors. Individual awnings for windows. Dark-out curtains on inside. Screen room for when awning is out. Tons of storage inside and out. Lots of extras including maintenance supplies. History, manuals and service records.
The Bad… Camera system monitor works intermittently. New monitor was purchased, just never installed. Rock peck in the passenger-side windshield. Cab air does not work. A mechanic stated that it needs a new compressor. Since the cab air is pretty ineffective during summer months anyway, it was never fixed. We simply ran the generator and drove with one of the roof-mounted A/C units on. The automatic parking brake… Okay, if you’re not familiar, this is a common problem with this model Bounder. The short story is that you MUST set the parking brake when you are parked. If not, the coach will roll away.
The rest of the story…. We have owned the coach for the past 3 years. Our first one and we are upgrading to a larger one. We have traveled over 9 states, typically pulling a car dolly with a mid-sized SUV, with no issues. Serviced religiously every 3,000 miles (both engine and generator). Winterized every year with no issues. We typically traveled with our son, playing travel baseball, and would boon-dock for days using the tanks and the on-board generator with no issues at all. The previous owner had the electrical system upgrades from a 30A system to a 50A system by an RV service center in Texas; this allows you to run both A/C units at the same time. There are NO issues with anything at this time, other than what is listed above. Some wear inside and out from use. Nothing is broken and you should be realistic in your expectations when purchasing a 1996 model motorhome.
