Travelling art studio. Fantastic Views, Runs and Drives. The great thing about this studio is, that you can change your inspiration from day to day. It is housed within a 1990 Fleetwood Bounder Motorhome. If you are longing to get out, be in nature, paint, sculpt, write, adventure alone, or with a couple close friends, this is the RV for you. She has a fresh white canvas for you to paint on. Comfortable beds in the front, so there is no need for a bed in the rear, which currently is an open workspace that can accommodate a pottery wheel, easels, tripods, keyboards, plants, an air mattress, desk, office chair, bikes, dogs, etc. whatever you can strap down or wrap up.
There are large windows which provide panoramic views of your surroundings. You can park in the woods, desert, or beach, and give yourself stunning inspiration, (or you can park in a Wal-Mart parking lot and have a different type of inspiration.) You will have to do some work to make this RV reliable. I am selling it because it needs more maintenance than I want to deal with. We just got a brand new engine battery, so you don’t need to replace that one, but the deep cycle batteries may not be great. We’ve been plugged in for the last year, so we haven’t had to use them. If you want to install solar, I think you need a different type anyhow. The fridge is wired to run off the engine battery, so it will drain it, if you are sitting for months at a time, but the alternator will be enough to charge it if you’re driving it often enough, or you can just get the fridge to not run on the engine battery. The generator doesn’t work, but you do have 30 amp plug-ins, with a dog bone, (so you can just use any standard outlet and an extension cord.)
If you are going to be primarily in the city, I recommend a back up camera, if you are going to be in the woods, trying to back in to a spot, I recommend a back up camera, and if you are going to be adventuring with a friend or partner, and you value your relationship with that person, I recommend a back up camera, there is not one included. This is a 33 foot motorhome, and if you are not an old pro at big rigs, it can be tricky getting in and out of alleys, gas pumps, and parking spaces in this baby, especially since, the last time I drove her, her power steering was starting to whine. Get some power steering fluid, in fact, a full tune up with oil change and fluids would be best.
The people who had it before us, installed a nice brand new washer/dryer, and dishwasher, which I have never been able to make work, not once. I use them both for storage. The dishwasher makes a nice place to keep dishes. It is just beneath the four burner propane stove. I think there may be a propane leak, so we turned off the propane and disconnected the gas line. You can reconnect it easily, but you will want to make sure that it isn’t leaking. The heater is nice, but if you’re in the backcountry, one or two nights running the heat will burn through your propane. I use a little electric space heater, and a single burner hot plate, as well as a little electric indoor grill. (if you’re at a site with electricity, these little gadgets make it easy to not use propane at all) Also, you can cook over a fire if you aren’t in the city.
I see water damage above the door, but I have only ever lived in this Bounder in Arizona, and didn’t experience it leaking. The water heater, on the other hand, most definitely leaks. You can replace it with a fancy new tankless, or you can do what I did, bypass it, and take lukewarm showers. The bathroom sink leaks, so it fills up the gray water tank really fast. (gray water is from dishes, shower, bathroom sink) You will want to get the leak fixed. I would look into some newer all terrain tires, and get all of the steering stuff looked at, brakes, axles, bushings, all of that. I admittedly don’t know that much, but I have had an axle go out on me in another motorhome, and I have had bad brakes, it is not safe, especially in a big vehicle, and it is very scary, also you need a hydraulic jack just to change the tires. Luckily there are a lot of compartments in which tools can be stored, and I have always carried AAA+RV, so unless you’re way off the road, they will come and change your tire for you. (They’ll tow you, or jump your battery too)
There is no awning, I have made do with a tarp, but it isn’t the same. The AC does not work, which is just fine in Colorado, or Washington, but the pits of hell in Tucson. There are no slides or leveling jacks. All of the original chairs have been unbolted but we have kept all three and they can be put back in. You will need to at least put the driver’s seat back in, so you have a seatbelt.
This RV has character, it is not pristine. The counters are peeling, the laminate floor sits just off in places, the paint isn’t perfect, there are scribbles here and there, the drawer fronts pull off, the screen door squeaked, so we took it off, but if those things add to the value, not diminish it in your eyes, then you are just the type of artist to take over and turn it into your living masterpiece. It will sleep two or three people, (more with an air mattress.) Toilet, sinks, shower, tub, and electricity all work.
If, for you, life is art, and art is life, you will enjoy your time creating a one of a kind experience in this one of a kind mobile studio. We are listing it low, with no reserve, so that hopefully the right person, or people will win it. We will hold it for up to two weeks after auction close. After that a 25 dollar per day storage fee will be assessed. Linens and curtains not included.
