Vehicle description
47 foot Racecar Hauler. 8500 empty weight 24000 gross. VIN 1FPL40301LA941439 This is a very low mileage Featherlite. Was used only for storage during the last 18 years. It was hand waxed with Carunba wax every two years (or more).
She is in the shop now to be retrofitted with electric brakes, all new tires (the old ones were too dated), 6 brake assemblies, 3 pin electric connector, breakaway switch and battery, side door latch, repair of all interior and interior lights and wiring, repack all bearings, recondition gooseneck with phosphoric acid and Rust-Oleum paint, and misc cleaning, minor repairs/service.
Amendments to the interior include plywood panels to protect the side walls while loading. Two tool cases, a small file cabinet and bookshelf, and a small wood stove. These items are easily removable, leaving only a 6 inch diameter hole in the roof which can be professionally patched with a small one foot square sheet of aluminum.
In addition to exterior waxing with carnauba, they all aluminum roof was recently hand clean of all tree sap and Atmospheric exudate ( see the photo).
This Featherlite has been very good to me for 28 years . With routine annual maintenance it should retain it"s present beauty for another 28 years. Note that $14,000 is a 75% savings over the price of a new Featherlite ( $55,000).
Explanation of photos from top left to bottom right: 1. Right side exterior view. Shadows are from the sun. The finish of the trailer is without flaw. The exterior beauty of this Featherlite is hard o capture in a photo. 2. Left side exterior view 3. Another left side shot from the rear with the loading door open 4. Interior view looking toward the front. Note the floor was wet vacuumed with Simple Green. It could stand a second or spot treatment. [Zoom in on the floor] 5. Closer shot of the cabin area and small office space (with shelves, a small bookcase and file cabinet (these are all clean but show their age). They are removable. 6. Entry to the cabin. 7. Raised bed and sleeping area inside the cabin. 8. The spotless all aluminum roof. 9. The gooseneck and parking stanchions as reconditioned with phosphoric acid and Rust-oleum. 10. Close up of the breakaway switch and battery. 11. Showing the stovepipe where it exits thru the roof. 12. The only dent in the trailer. It is not substantial and barely noticeable as can be seen by zooming in on photo #1. 13. A close up sample of the hundreds of rivets which attach the aluminum side panels. These hundreds were all hand cleaned with a toothbrush and Carnauba wax every year or two. years. They look like new. 14. Wood stove and one of the two tool cases (both are easily removable). 15. View of loading entrance from inside the trailer. 16. Showing the spot where wheel wells project into the trailer, leaving a usable space of 7 feet and 3/4 inches at the floor (7" 8" above 12").
