Vehicle description
1977 Airstream Argosy 24" (Chevy P80 chassis) CPY
VIN: CPY3773319750
- 454 runs great, new cap, ignition wires, plugs. Starts every time. I am not a mechanic but I think there may be an exhaust leak.
- Recently rebuilt transmission (Nov 2020)
- Structurally good, dry inside, no leaks. Door currently does not lock reliably.
- All glass intact and beautiful, certain windows are very stiff but they slide open with lubrication.
- Onan generator with approx 1350 hours (double check this) starts and runs fine. Powers the rooftop AC and subsystems/receptacles.
- No in-dash AC. It may have been removed. Rooftop AC runs while driving if desired.
- New front springs couldn"t hurt - spring airbags inflated while driving.
- Interior is ok overall. Has been changed around a little (dinette table and couch were originally in different places). Portions of some ceiling fixtures are damaged or missing or poorly patched.
- Water system untested by current owner. Expectation is that things work. There is some water damage on the floor which appears to have come from a filter in kitchen area.
- Rolling cabinet doors function, but need to be oiled.
This Argosy is a lot of fun to drive around. The motor is awesome. But it"s the windows that make it amazing. I was going put the motor in a car, and just park this by the creek. Might still do that. Personally I would remove the entire interior except the bathroom. Since underneath the furnishings the cabin shell looks clean. For the time being, it is well insulated, I don"t see mold but I would run a dehumidifier on auto in any RV, that"s just me. I would also replace this fridge with a larger one (as it apparently used to have). I"ve driven this from Florida to Virginia, and all around Virginia. About 14,500 miles - very possible the odometer rolled over - I don"t know. The RV is ready to go and be lived in, though the new owner may want to update the 1970s inside a little bit. You will get this for much less than what I paid for it - Purchase price, engine maintenance and tranny rebuilt cost over 20k. RV is kept in VA Beach.
