Vehicle description

You are looking at a Kaiser-Jeep M543A2 5 Ton military wrecker. The truck was made in 1976 and been through a series of overhauls in 79" and 89" before being retired from service. It starts, runs, and drives. All mechanical features work on the truck including winches and crane operation. The truck was sold from the Army to a private collector in 1994 where it stayed for over 20 years! It was used in parades and pulling the family tractor out if stuck.
In 1989 the truck was rebuilt to include a new engine, transmission, transfer case and accessory drives (PTOs). It received a deep water fording kit, hard top, and rust proofing/paint as well. Improvements were made to the truck in 89" including new power steering pack, heater install, spring seat, and more.
The engine shows 15,636 miles / 1140 hours which may/may not be accurate due to rebuilds. Tag on dash shows 1979 overhaul odometer was reset and verified at 19 miles. Still low miles and hours for this machine. No leaks seen. This is the only Multi-fuel capable wrecker that Army produced and can burn used motor oil, hydraulic oil, kerosene , etc and has more horsepower than the standard M35A2 LDT-465-1D Multi-fuel.
Overall the truck is in good shape but has some wear from age mainly surface rust/paint and some brittle wiring causing some lights to not function intermittently (turn signals and convoy lights). The truck was power washed before photos were taken and could use some Purple Power with another wash. The body and deck are still strong. The crane has plenty of power and all the accessories listed below:
-Travel locking arms & pins -Ground spades -A frame poles w/ feet
The tires are all around 80% tread or better with a spare that is 100%. The driver front shows cracking due to age but has held air for years. New batteries were installed this week.
I have a clean title in hand for this truck and can issue temp tags if you wish to drive it home. If you are interested in the vehicle or have questions please message me.
