Up for auction is a 1973 Bluebird Wanderlodge FC31 powered by a 6v53 Detroit Diesel. Bus starts, runs, and drives with new brakes and brake lines. Interior has been completely stripped, as it sat in storage for nearly 15 years and interior suffered. Body is intact with no major dents, minimal surface rust, and shows no signs of ever being in an accident. I have extensive records for the bus that have been passed down from owner-to-owner, to include the original receipt for the Detroit Diesel upgrade engine. Bus has had the generator upgraded, as well as furnace and refrigerator, all three of which will come with the bus. As mentioned, the bus does start, run, drive, and stop, however, the tires are long past their due date for replacement and I highly recommend the winner buys new tires prior to driving or has it transported to its new home. Wheels will also need to be replaced, as the wheels are old split rims. I have for Budd-style rims that can be included if the buyer wishes and two more can be easily found at any salvage yard that salvages parts for semi trucks. As it sat for 15 years, the transmission has to warm up prior to it shifting into second and so-on, but I will have it serviced prior to pick-up and/or delivery to help ensure that the new owner starts out on the best foot possible.
Honestly, I love this bus and am sad that I have to part ways with it. I bought it last year intending on remodeling and living in it full time, but after getting the brakes rebuilt and some other unexpected expenses this year, can not afford to remodel it and don"t want it to sit for another 15 years.
This bus is a classic and will have great resale value once it has been restored to its former glory. Check out Wanderlodge Owners Group online and ask around, I have confidence that the owners in that group will advise that this is a sound investment. Serious bidders only.
