COVID NOTICE: As an essential business, we are open for you. In order to better serve our customers, we are offering free delivery of this unit up to 75 miles from Fort Wayne, Indiana. Additional miles will be charged at $2 a mile (round trip). We are also offering up to 3 months of free storage in the event that you want to purchase this unit and store it for a while. If you need to store it for more than 3 months, we charge $50 a month. - - - - Up for auction at no reserve is a vintage and very rare single axle 1972 20" Airstream Argosy that is ready for immediate use .
The 20 foot Argosy model is known for its small size and ability to get into National Parks that larger Airstreams can"t. It is distinguished from the Bambi, Bambi II, and Globetrotter by its steel end caps, painted exterior and slightly larger and more spacious rear bathroom, full kitchen with a large fridge, double sink and 3 top stove, and a sofa bed in the front.
With a total length of only 20 feet, this Airstream is great for camping in national parks as it is well below the length requirements. Due to its very light weight of 4,080 pounds, practically any vehicle with a towing package can pull it comfortably.
The exterior aluminum on this Airstream is in fantastic shape. There is only one very minor blemish on the left front which is visible in the pictures. It also has a handful of rock chips and small dents around the lower aluminum underbelly paneling on the front especially. All of the underbelly is present. There is an area near the passenger"s side wheel well where the aluminum is missing but other than that it is in excellent shape cosmetically. The marks around the driver"s side front window are from tape residue from when the front window was out.
Overall, the body and underbelly are in great shape for the age of the camper. The tires will need to be replaced and we can do this for a fee of $350 (which includes the cost of the tires and installation). The front driver"s side window was replaced with plexiglass. We would suggest replacing this window in the future but as of now they seem water tight.
Overall, the subfloor is in excellent shape and appears solid throughout the camper. There is only minor water damage below the front driver"s side window from before the plexiglass was installed. Wood is stained but not soft.
Onboard, there is a large futon style bed in the front (cushions missing) which is original and doubles as a front couch (with storage underneath), a sink in the kitchen, 3 top stove and the original refrigerator (works fantastic). The wood grain paneling throughout is in excellent original condition for the year, with no visible cosmetic damage. Overall, the interior presents very well and is ready to camp. The frame is also solid with no noticeable rust other than what is typical.
We tested the onboard electric and associated appliances and all works. The plumbing systems will need to be gone through and we haven"t tested them. It has the original propane tanks and a brand new 7 pin connector for the rear lights. One tail light is out and likely the bulb will need replaced. Being a 49 year old trailer, it is not perfect but it is in great overall condition and is a very nice camper ready for immediate use.
We do have this trailer listed for sale locally and we reserve the right to end the auction early in the event that it sells. Feel free to call Chase at 317-315-0061 and make an offer.
