Additional miles will be charged at $2 a mile (round trip). We are also offering up to 3 months of free storage in the event that you want to purchase this unit and store it for a while. If you need to store it for more than 3 months, we charge $50 a month. - - - - Up for auction at no reserve is a vintage, partially gutted and rare double axle 1968 24" Airstream Tradewind .
The Tradewind model is known for its small size and ability to get into National Parks that larger Airstreams can"t. It is distinguished from the Bambi, Bambi II, and Globetrotter by its slightly larger and more spacious rear bathroom, full kitchen with a large fridge, double sink and 4 top stove (missing), and the space for a dinette in the front.
With a total length of only 24 feet, this Airstream would be great for camping in national parks as it is below the length requirements. Due to its light weight of under 3,985 pounds, most vehicles with a towing package can pull it comfortably.
The exterior aluminum on this Airstream doesn"t have any large dents but does have a dent in the front passenger side. It also has the typical rock chips and dents around the lower aluminum underbelly paneling. All of the underbelly is present although one side is hanging down and needs to be reattached (pictured). This could be fixed fairly easily or left as it is. Overall, the exterior aluminum is in great condition and would be a good candidate for a full mirror polish or to be left with the original patina. T he body and underbelly are in great shape for the age of the camper. The tires are in good condition from the last owner but if you"d like to replace them we can help with that for $175 a tire. Several windows were replaced with white plastic (flat and easy to replace with actual glass). It is also missing a few of the side access doors which have been replaced with wood.
On the inside, the wood flooring has some damaged areas (pictured) that will need replaced. Most of the interior has been gutted by the previous owner other than the bathroom, water tanks, fridge, and other miscellaneous items. The frame appears to be in good shape and was recoated by the previous owner and presents well. With its mostly gutted floor plan, you can let your creativity flow to create a food truck, art studio, AirBnb, or whatever you can put your mind to!
We did not test the onboard electric and associated appliances. Also, the plumbing systems will need to be gone through but it looks in good order. It has the original Airstream propane tanks. Being a 53 year old trailer, it is not perfect but it is in really good overall condition and is the ideal candidate for total restoration as a collector trailer, food trailer, AirBnb or very nice camper. Includes factory owners manual, many orignal documents, and other miscellaneous parts from when the trailer was gutted.
