Vehicle description

Truck: 1965 Peterbilt Model 351. 350 hp. Cummins engine with Jake brake, and a new radiator. (Low hrs./ miles on engine overhaul. Engine uses no oil.) Transmissions are five speed main box. (Fuller double countershaft.) and four speed progressive ratio Spicer brownie. Rear axles are Rockwell SQHD with spring suspension. Brakes also on steering axle. Spring brakes on both rear axles. Integral power steering. Top speed about 65 mph. Water system: 4000 gallon aluminum tank. Berkeley 4" X 4" self priming water pump. (Larger pump than water trucks using hydraulic systems.) The last time pump was tested for fire it pumped 452 gallons per min. The pump is powered by a power take off. The plumbing on this truck is of greater diameter than most water trucks. Five custom spray valves - two on front and three on rear of truck. These custom spray valves can quickly be adjusted to spray any direction and at any angle. The spray heads can be quickly changed from one type or another. Water cannon on left side of truck. (Behind cab.) Large dump valve at rear of tank for fire use. Over 30 foot of suction hose wraps around truck. Can load from hydrant front or back, right or left side of truck. Some advantages of this truck: This truck has high ground clearance. (Fuel tank, spray system, water pump etc.) This water truck has a pressure control system, without using hydraulics. (The water pressure can be raised or lowered while maintaining the same engine speed.) The plumbing has built in air cushions to enable dampening the hammer effect when shutting off water at a high pressure. The Truck offered in this sale has worked highway construction, both Federal and State fires. Any questions call Ron at 530 - 357 3203.
