If you need to store it for more than 3 months, we charge $50 a month. - - - - Up for auction at no reserve is a vintage, gutted single axle 1963 19" Airstream Globetrotter .
The Globetrotter model is known for its small size and ability to get into National Parks that larger Airstreams can"t. It is distinguished from the Bambi & Bambi II by its slightly larger and more spacious interior (3 feet more). Originally, it featured a rear bathroom with shower and toilet, full kitchen with a large fridge, double sink and 4 top stove, and a dinette in the front.
With a total length of only 19 feet, this Airstream would be great for camping in national parks as it is below the length requirements. Due to its very light weight of under 3,000 pounds, practically any vehicle with a towing package can pull it comfortably.
The exterior aluminum on this Airstream is in overall excellent condition. We see a lot of these trailers and this one ranks at the top with very few minor blemishes and dents. The patina is very good overall. The rear portion of the aluminum underbelly is missing and will need to be replaced. The hole where your water heater will go was temporarily covered and can be removed easily when you install the new water heater.
Overall, the frame appears to be in excellent condition. The remaining portion of the underbelly is intact. The wheels and tires are brand new and the bearings were repacked a few weeks ago, so it is ready to tow anywhere. One side window was replaced with heavy duty plexiglass, but it is not visibly different than the other windows. Both roof vents and the fridge vent are missing but can be purchased on Vintage Trailer Supply for under $100 total.
The front section of the subfloor is solid overall, including at the entrance. The rear subfloor was removed and will need replaced, as seen in pictures.
We did not test the onboard electric and associated appliances as they are not present and will need to be replaced. Also, the plumbing systems will need to be replaced but there are still some propane lines attached under the trailer. It is missing the propane tanks and water tanks. Being a 58 year old trailer, it is not perfect but is an excellent candidate for restoration.
I think it is important to reiterate that overall, the exterior of this Airstream is in excellent shape compared to many we see. It could be restored in a way that many can"t due to the lack of exterior denting. Additionally, all window cranks are in working order and the windows secure perfectly which is relatively unusual. These are time consuming aspects of restoration that will hasten the process since they are already in good shape.
