Vehicle description
1951 Vagabond Model 34 vintage travel trailer for sale. This is an all original, unmolested trailer from the golden age of large, luxurious coaches. This coach has seen some use, but the wear is honest. Personal inspections are welcome if you are in the Tucson, Arizona area.
This trailer has been in Arizona since the 1960"s and in my possession for several years. It was my intention to use it as a mobile summer cabin here in Arizona and/or on property in Montana, but our retirement plans have changed. This coach is livable as-is with some plumbing work to hook up water, waste and propane lines.
Exterior is quite good. Very straight and very solid. All original stainless belt trim, windows, doors and screen doors. The door locks work and a working key is included with the sale. I would estimate that about 60-70% of the exterior fasteners have been replaced with stainless steel aircraft quality screws. The tongue jack works well. Bargman rear stop/turn/tail lights and license plate frame/light are original to the coach. Grote running lights replaced with period correct NOS.
Exterior faults: There is a bent and scraped quarter panel on the rear, bottom, curb side. There is a dent and small tear in the front, street side corner ("thank you" whoever it was who backed into my trailer while in storage! ). There are two small, patch panels on the roof just aft of the front, living room vent. No original front roof vent - trailer had a cooler installed when I purchased.
Interior is quite good. Solid floor, with original flooring throughout the interior of the coach. Original stove and working fridge in excellent shape. Closets, doors and drawers in very good condition with original latches and trim. All of the electrical worked when I purchased the trailer. Original Coleman forced air heater. Original hot water heater installed under the kitchen counter. Kitchen backsplashes in very nice condition and the large double sink is good with some wear to the porcelain. Countertops in nice shape. Original toilet, medicine cabinet, light and corner sink in the bathroom. Bathroom walls in good sturdy condition.
Interior faults: Floor and wood in rear trunk/hatch area needs work. A couple of the ceiling exhaust fans do not turn on, probably need to be cleaned and lubricated. Missing one sconce for the bedside dressing table. Bathroom plumbing not hooked up - no shower pipes present but I will look to see if I have them somewhere (cannot remember). Only one original venetian blind - most windows have curtain rods. I don"t know if the water heater works - light glows with switched to ON but don"t want to burn out the element with no water in the tank. Slight, old water damage to the street side ceiling of the bedroom and the ceiling just aft of the front vent (the reason for the roof patch panels).
I repacked the wheel bearings and purchased new chrome wheels and 7.50-15 tires years ago. The tires have only 500 miles on them, but they are several years old. The trailer has the original electric trailer brakes, but I have never hooked them up or used them. I towed the trailer about 300 highway miles with a 3/4 ton pickup. The coach was a clean and easy pull with no wobble or wag.
Vagabonds are rare and unique coaches - you will see many, many Airstreams and Spartans for every Vagabond. Let the photos guide you - please ask any and all questions prior to purchase. Sold as-is and where-is. You are responsible for all pickup and shipping costs and charges.
If purchased, you will need to pick up the coach and complete payment prior to March 4 or after March 22nd. Trailer must be picked up prior to April 30.
$500 immediately due via PayPal, with the balance wired within 7 days thereafter. I have a clean, valid Arizona trailer title in my name. Questions? Text Thomas at with your number and a time to call you back.
