Vehicle description
1941 Vagabond Model 20 Vintage Travel Trailer
This 1941 Vagabond is an amazing piece of history! The condition of this wood framed camper is amazing considering it"s 78 years old. I bought this because I was looking for something that was a little more unique and had every intention of bringing it back to it"s former glory. However, as it often goes, other projects have taken center stage and this one must go.
SIZE
The size of this trailer is quite unique. While it looks pretty standard in the pictures it is actually quite smaller in person. It measures just under 7" Wide and right at 8" tall. Compare that to you average Airstream that is 8 to 8.5" Wide and nearly 9" tall. This trailer is a manageable size that has the look and feel of your larger breadbox style trailers with the size and tow-ability of a canned-ham!
EXTERIOR
SKIN:The aluminum skin is in great condition. All upper corners are free from dents and dings that you often find on these older trailers. There are minor dents and dings along the body but no major accidents or glaring damage. WINDOWS: The two front windows were either custom ordered to be larger or installed at a later date.
TIRES: The tires are in need of replacement but will pull for a very short distance. LIGHTS: The lights do not work. BRAKES: The brakes are untested. However, they are spinning freely and aren"t locked up. TOWING: The trailer pulls great, but does need new tires.
INTERIOR
APPLIANCES- The Fridge is untested, the Furnace is missing, No AC.
ELECTRICAL- Electrical appears to be all there but is untested
PLUMBING- Plumbing lines appear to be complete but also untested.
PROPANE: Untested BATHROOM: Water Damage from roof vent in ceiling - Major damage in ceiling and minor damage on back wall. KITCHEN DINING: Minor Water Damage behind sink under window, moderate water damage around rear window. Sub Floor seems to be in good structural shape. Tile floor needs replaced. Upholstery is original. It has some staining and is starting to deteriorate. No water damage from the windows up.
LIVING ROOM: Extensive water damage underneath window on curbside of trailer. The damage goes into the sub floor and needs repaired before use. This is the biggest job to do if you aren"t planning a full frame-off restoration. There is also minor water damage where the furnace pipe used to be next to the door and under the other two windows. There is either a missing window on the streetside here or a place where the previous owner cut a hole to put a window AC unit through the wall. Tile floor needs replaced. Sofa folds down to make bed and functions properly.
HALL/CLOSETS: Tile floor needs replaced. Sub-floor seems solid and I did not find any water damage worth noting. Overall this is a great camper for it"s age. Some vintage trailer enthusiasts that have seen it in person told me that they would put a weekend of labor into it and take it camping. Personally, I want to see it shine like one of Heintz Designs in FL. I"ve done my best to describe any issues with this camper, it is available for preview in person at any time before the listing ends.
