Vehicle Details Super rare Phillips Berlina Coupe, factory built in 1981 by Phillips Motor Corp. in Florida, donor car was a brand new C3 - Corvette, powerful V-8 350 engine and automatic transmission, power steering, power brakes. . . In the 1970s and 1980s, a number of companies sprouted up to produce replicas of 1920's and 1930's Mercedes Benz famous automobiles. Excalibur, Classic Tiffany, Gatsby, Clenet, Zimmer, Besasie, and many others each took a turn at creating their modernized version of the classic Mercedes 540K, 500K and SSK . In 1980, Charles W. Phillips of Pompano Beach, Florida decided to set about producing a replica of the multimillion dollar - ever popular 1934-36 Mercedes 540K Roadster, which was the follow-up to the famous S-Series cars. Neoclassic automobiles often use the chassis and powertrain of a mass-produced car, combined with custom bodywork. The Phillips Berlina is no exception. It has a very thick fiberglass body riding on top of a stretched Chevrolet Corvette C3 chassis, so, no body rust ever ! Only 78 of these Berlina Neoclassics were produced between 1980 and 1983, the car captures the dramatic styling of the mid thirties with the advanced engineering and modern comfort of the eighties. . . Beautiful prewar style options on this neoclassic vehicle - Mercedes 540K style radiator grill and badge bar, dual spares with covers matching the 2 tone body color combination, dual trumpet horns, vintage fog lights and prewar style headlights, 2 piece hood, Bundeswappen hood ornament (German Federal Eagle), solid chrome bumpers and real wire wheels - all 6, hand formed stainless steel body molding that contribute to a final touch of elegance to this Classic ! New Hankook Optimo white wall tires, new Magnaflow dual exhaust with beautiful chrome tips, new air filter to fit the new carburetor, original GM will be placed in the rear trunk compartment, new brake pads and new front brake calipers . . less than 200 miles since front brake calipers and tires were replaced. Car comes with power windows and dual glass T Tops and they can be easily removed for a Convertible look. Odometer showing 12,810 miles, the previous owner stated at the time of purchase that almost 13 K miles are original but he didn't have any proof to document that, for that reason the car will be sold under " Mileage Unknown" .
