Vehicle description
Up for offer is this splendid 1984 Landrover Series 3, 88” truck cab in “bronze green”. Her name is "Doxie" but you can rename her however you wish.
She has a 2.0 liter turbo Prima Perkins Diesel Montego engine conversion, mated with the original Land Rover gearbox. 4 speed manual gearbox with high/low ratio, 4WD, locking hubs and a Fairley overdrive installed. The wiring loom, engine mounts and exhaust system are configured for this conversion. She was completely disassembled in 2010 to install a complete new galvanized chassis. A very reliable daily runner at the time of disassembly but she has not been started since 2010. The original registration is B692CVL and she is not yet registered in the U.S. The mileage reads 74081 but with this type of vehicle may not be accurate. This is very much a “kit” project with all parts present ready for installation to build a complete Landrover Series 3. The work carried out thus far, in terms of brand new parts, is the installation of a complete new galvanized chassis, seats, radiator, brake lines, hub bearings and seals, parabolic springs, brake shoes and drums, dampers, oil nipples, engine and gearbox mounts. For the “kit”, brand new parts include: Lights, light covers, entire wiring loom (configured for conversion), clutch, inner wing panels, all seals including door seals, new window channels, hood seal, vent and windshield seals, hub boots, gearbox boots and cab seals, electric radiator fan, complete S/S exhaust (configured for conversion), prop shafts including new joints and flanges, complete set of new bearings for engine and drive-train, complete set of new gaskets for engine, and gearbox, new seat box side panels, complete set of new engine belts. All original parts present from time of disassembly. Bolts, fasteners and fittings have been retained and labelled. She also comes with a spare oil pan, complete spare engine (Prima Perkins), complete spare gearbox (Land Rover). Spare windshield glass and frame.
I"m also including an engine hoist and a few tools specific to this vehicle. Hub wrench, bearing pullers, hand crank, etc. Three Haynes manuals, Landrover (4-cyl petrol) manual, Austin Rover 2.0 diesel engine and a Landrover series I II and III restoration manual. There are also two binders with information on parts and breakdown/rebuild. Oh yeah, there"s a waterproof cover too.
Current issues include corrosion to the bottom of both door frames, slight corrosion to bottom areas of the radiator panel (she is fitted with a series 2a radiator panel), perished window channels (new channels provided) and currently has no spare wheel. She also has one tooth missing on the front differential crown wheel.
She is a very cherished vehicle, part of the family and painful for me to let go. So much joy to drive when she was running whether with the cab off and the wind in your hair on a coastal road or with the cosy cab keeping you warm plowing through the snow. She is a vehicle that will take you anywhere, at any angle and over any terrain. The series III Landrover is very reliable and capable. The pinnacle of Landrover design. For those who love to feel connected to the road and operating a machine rather than driving a car, she is perfect.
She is configured for right-hand drive and be aware that she is not yet registered in the U.S. I have the U.K V5 document (equivalent to the U.S "pink slip". The engine has not been started since 2010 but will turn cranking the camshaft bolt by hand, including the gearbox and output flanges front and rear. This is a rolling chassis and can be trailer-ed away.

Much love.
