Vehicle description

International Harvester Scout.
This my 1972 Scout II. Cosmetic: This vehicle has been repainted at some time in its past andthis is not an original nor “approved” color scheme for the year. I cannot saythat this is a professional paint job, but it looks quite good. I think mostguys would say it a good ten-footer. It has minor defects such as a tiny pieceof window trim missing here, or the rear side reflector missing there. Theupholstery is very sound with no tears anywhere and no worn places, front orback, but strikes me as discolored from either sun or wet at some point. Thefloor is done almost completely in a vinyl overlay, with some older carpetunder the full rear seat. It has the tire side-flares all the way around and itlooks nice. The headliner is absolutely perfect. The interior is not in thesame scheme as the exterior, and looks like the original olive and tan. Thedash pad is imperfect and cracked. Please see the photos for all of this. Mechanical: Everything is functional except a frozen choke. All gaugeswork as they should. Windows roll up and down easily as they should. Doors fittight and there are no gaps showing a straight and sound frame. The 345 V8starts up every time and runs great. Locking hubs for 4WD and of course a fullyremoveable top. I have not had the top off. I think, given just a visualinspection, that new sealing might be wanted in the future. There are no leakshowever, and this is Oregon so I’d know. There is no smoke. There are no oil ortransmission leaks of any kind. This is an extremely sound truck. Tires are newand have less than 25 miles on them. The spare is an original and in my opinionshould be replaced. Upon recent inspection I wasn’t happy with the look of thefuel tank and had it and sender replaced two weeks ago. Has jack and theoriginal and very cool oil can container in the back. Spare is on anaftermarket rack as you can see, and it also has an aftermarket roll bar. AMradio is all original and functional. Hooked up with wiring and switches forboth winch and plow. Structural: I hope before this ad is up for long that I can get somedecent undercarriage photos. If I can’t, I’ll want you to look for yourself andsee a completely dry and solid and rust-free undercarriage. Everything fitsfine, from doors to hood to tailgate and lift gate. The button on the glove boxis frozen, but I’ve almost forgotten that as I simply twist it open and shut. Engine/Running: This is a great starting and running vehicle. I hope thereare Scout guys out there who know, but this in not your freeway flyer at 70+.These were first and foremost tanks for the farm and ranch. This will get youdown the highway just fine, but as I say, don’t expect to be passing anylogging trucks at 75. Tracks straight and runs excellent. Great power steeringand manual brakes in very good condition. I hope there are some Scout folks out there wanting one. Ihave to move soon and 40 years of things must go.
