Vehicle Details I have been a faithful VW pickup owner for over 35 years but it is time to let go. I bought this- my second caddy- on in 2000 and it has served me well: hauling lumber, rocks, mulch, building supplies, sporting goods, etc. It has moved households of both friends and family. Everyone needs a friend with a pickup and we have been that combination. :-) The good: It drives/rides great for a vehicle that is 39 years old, and stays solidly in its lane. It starts, runs, shifts, and brakes well for a vintage 4-speed diesel: Watch this video https:/ youtu.be/QQrGcjzM6pQ It had been sitting unused over a month but it still started right up on a 40 degree day. The tires have very few miles and some fancier rims that my brother discovered in a salvage yard. (He also was a VW pickup guy back in the day.) It has been well-serviced by a local VW specialist. The not-so-good: It has some rust (see the photos. . we can provide more if you are interested), even though I was able to keep it in a garage for many of the winters that I owned it. The interior is okay for a truck of this age. The battery will lose charge if not run consistently, say over a month. The truck must be on level ground or face downhill when shut off, otherwise the fuel drains back to the tank. The mysterious: I don't know the actual mileage because the odometer had been replaced before I bought it in 2000. The odometer currently reads 220318.
