Vehicle description
I have for sale a 1985 BMW 635CSI, E 24 2dr coupe. The paint color is Zinneberrot red and has a tan leather interior. The front seats are power and have been swapped with those from a 2005 Volvo and work and look beautiful (no modifications were done to the floor) . Over the course of the last two years I have gone through the car to make it a reliable daily driver. It is not perfect but for a 36 year old car it looks and drives very well. The original paint was in poor condition so I had a local artist paint on top of it in the spirit of the original BMW art cars, it turns heads and gets compliments everywhere I go but if you don’t like it it will require a complete respray.
Work I’ve done:
In the last two years I have replaced both rear complete axles, cleaned and serviced brake calipers and rotors, replaced the front sway bar links, drained and replace the differential oil, replaced engine oil and filter twice, replaced rear sway bar links, replaced rear dog bones, replaced driveshaft front Guibo bushing and center driveshaft bearing, replaced rear differential mount, repaired the dome light and glovebox lights, replaced blower motor with a used motor, replaced rubber fuel lines and fuel filter, replaced vacuum canister hoses, replaced brake and clutch braided hoses, installed used cylinder head and head gasket along with all related gaskets and fluids including valve adjustment. I also replaced the crank position sensor and battery. There are probably other items but I can’t think of right now.
Things it still needs: Some items that the car still needs are air conditioning update to except R134 refrigerant, however the entire system is intact and the compressor spins freely. The front struts are worn and a little bouncy. The ABS light is on. The speedometer is inaccurate, it reads 80 when actually doing 72 mph. The rear power antenna mast is broken however the antenna motor works correctly when radio switched on and off, in the meantime I have installed an invisible antenna which works great. Both parking brakes cables need replacement. The last thing I can think of is that it needs a windshield wiper motor. All power windows and sunroof work great, although the left rear window sticks sometimes I believe it’s in the switch. Cruise control, power steering, heat and blowers and radio all work great. The trunk mounted tool kit is missing a few items. There is rust in three places, none of them serious. First place is on the left rear wheel arch as seen in the pictures. The next place is minor and is on the insides of the top of the front fenders, it is not rusted through but paint is bubbled. The last spot is just inside the sunroof and is very minor. Please request additional pictures if you have questions.
Also, included with the sale is a set of four, 14 inch BBS wheels with center caps and also a set of 414 inch bottle cap wheels in excellent condition. The original cylinder head is also included along with a small box of miscellaneous parts.
As stated this is a daily driver and is reliable, it just needs you to take it to the next level.
