Vehicle description
This has been my personal car for the last 14 or so months - everything I relay here is from personal experience, not dealership fluff. The price you pay via ebay is also your total price. I, of course, charge no dealer fees, etc. The car comes with a clean TN title with no mention of rebuilt status, despite it having that in a previous life in a different state. Aside from the Autocheck report showing a crash history, you would never know this car was involved in an accident.
This is - to my knowledge - the highest trim spec for the 2015 Golf Sportwagen. You will get: -6 speed manual -upgraded headlights -full glass ceiling -heated mirrors -heated front seats -dual zone climate control -leather steering wheel -Fender audio system with Bluetooth for both calls and media (major upgraded over standard system) -leatherette seat material -two tone seats -power driver seat -backup camera
The tires are nearly new. I have additionally applied a ceramic coating to protect the paint.
This Sportwagen has the TDI (turbo diesel) engine, which is pretty phenomenal. I routinely get 35 mpg in traffic, 43 mpg in mixed town/highway, and 52-55 mpg on interstate trips. The car is rated for about 37/43 but you will find TDI owners on forums telling a similar story of how their real world numbers greatly surpass the EPA rating. The car also recently received a fresh fuel filter for the diesel system.
Engine is under VW warranty until 2024 or until 125,000 miles as a perk of Dieselgate. The car has had its emissions issue fixed by the factory.
The car is in 95% of its new condition. The only shortcomings I’ve noticed are as follows: -small scratch on roof panel between moonroof glass and the antenna. It looks like a previous owner had a bike rack or similar installed and the content scratched the roof. I’ve buffed it out pretty well but if you know it’s there you will see it. -small paint crack near the back window on the driver’s side. If you know it’s there you’ll see it, but like the roof scratch it isn’t noticeable from about 5 ft away. -the grey coating on the two tone back seat has peeled on the driver’s side cushion. See photos. I’ve ordered a factory replacement seat cover for $180, but it is on backorder. If you would like it I can mail it to you when it eventually comes in. -back driver’s side window rolls up and down from the back seat controls but not from the driver’s switch. I assume a wire is disconnected in the driver’s door but I haven’t taken the panel off to investigate. If you’re not routinely rolling all your windows up and down as you drive, you will not notice this. It was months into my ownership before I noticed. -Adaptive front lighting warning on the dash, which I’m told it needs a new $3 bulb. I just haven’t bothered to fix it yet. To be clear, both headlights work as they should on both high and low beams. The bulb in question is an option on the upgraded headlights that shines to the right or left of the car when you make a sharp turn at low speeds or put the car in reverse to better illuminate your surroundings.
You can pick up the car in Maryville, TN or a shipper can do so from the same location. I will not pay for your shipping, but I have transported a couple cars before and can point you in the direction of a couple quality businesses with very reasonable rates. For example, I just paid $500 to ship a car about 650 miles from Orlando, FL to Maryville, TN. It took 1 day to pick up and 2 days to arrive.
This is an excellent car that will serve you well for hundreds of thousands more miles, and I’d argue it is in better condition than any Sportwagen of similar price with a clean title. The imperfections noted above are not to say that the car is bad shape, but instead because I’ve done enough car deals where as soon as the check changes hands you hear the line of “Oh yeah there’s _ _, _ _, _ _, and _ _ wrong, but they’re not that big of a deal.” You get tired of that and wish people would just be transparent. That’s my goal in sharing this with you.
I am currently out of town for a couple weeks in Memphis and left the car with my parents in Maryville. If you buy and pick up the car in the meantime, you will be meeting my parents for the transaction. I have already signed the title and it is clear to go into the purchaser’s name. I will accept a cashier’s check or wire.
I am selling because I’m likely moving north in the next few months and I don’t have the heart to drive it on salty roads. The car is being replaced with the high milage, relatively guilt free Volvo you see in the background of some photos.
